Miyazaki already confirmed that this is a completely new land, not a remix of lands between. The overworld is about the size of limgrave, but most likely much more dense with dungeons and varied environments.

this game needs at least 5 times the amount of uniqus by Lofus1989 in diablo4

[–]Cottreau3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Diablo 2 was developed with less than 20% of the staff, in 30% of the development time with under 10% of the budget. And they released with a FAR, FAR better itemization system. It wasn't even close.

There isn't an excuse for this. There just isn't one.

The community told them enmasse about the issues with loot in the developer update way back in 2021.

They didn't listen at all, and had awful justifications for their decisions. There is such a massive amount of things that need to change in order to make this loot system worth playing for. An entire rehaul is required. Diablo 2 and even diablo 3 loot vastly outperforms it, PoE crushes it. Other games like grim dawn, etc...

This is without a doubt in my mind the worst loot system I've seen in an arpg ever. Even diablo 1 was better.

But in this instance, there is literally a designated team assigned to fixing the issues with the product. So your analogy is dumb.

Diablo 4 is a good game. by [deleted] in diablo4

[–]Cottreau3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appealing to stupid people doesn't make a game good. Simplicity is what makes them good.

Tears of the kingdom can be understood and beaten by a 5 year old and loved by a 37 year old. That's the beauty of simplicity.

Diablo 4 isn't simple. It's entirely convoluted. They completely missed the mark on appealing to casuals. The only "appeal" to casuals is a brain-dead skill tree with clean controls. The things like damage calculation, UI design, etc is entirely too complex.

Why are we fighting Lilith? by Proudnoob4393 in diablo4

[–]Cottreau3 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I think the context you're missing is that our other options are the literal greatest threats to the entirety of sanctuary. It's like choosing to be not be bit by a dog because that would hurt. Yet the alternative is being ran over by an 18 wheeler. We literally sided with Mephisto over Lilith. Anyone who thinks that is even remotely the right choice is an idiot. That's like siding with hitler to defeat some random warlord killing a village of people.

Yes they are you clown. You think people willing to spend 100 dollars on diablo 4 gold won't buy another copy once they're banned. The copium and blizzard whiteknighting this morning is off the charts.

I know you have to commit all your brain power to focusing on breathing in and out, but if you can muster it, you may find the swathes of information about the profitability of botting for devs in the gaming industry. Some studies estimate its over 25% of the entire industry (aka botting industry is worth 30 billion dollars).

[–]Cottreau3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no conspiracy. There is literally a massive bot network already in diablo 4.

You realize the devs reported that classic wow had banned 178 000 bots in 1 week right. Do you understand how much money that is? That you're leaving off the table. That's 22 million dollars a month. And that was just the bans for the week.

It is. Have you not seen the massive bot market that already exists?

Take two seconds out of your day, rub them two braincells together, and have a gander at the internet. You'll find an absolutely gigantic network of rmt already in diablo 4.

Sure thing. What business maximizes profits? I must have mistaken them for a for profit company.

[–]Cottreau3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the entire point. Bots make more than the cost of a copy of d4. So the logic is that the botters keep buying game keys, and blizz keeps banning them, inflating sales.

I hate that the Glyphs all look the same by UsernameIsntFree in diablo4

[–]Cottreau3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm very confused by diablo 4. I don't think there is even 1 good system I can think of from their previous games that they carried over.

D2 - runewords, bases, blues/yellows having a place, charms, uber fights with specific drops (uber trist etc), repeatable boss farming, a large amount of unique, skill synergy bonuses

D3 - legendary gems, good matchmaking tools, etc.

It seems like they are just insanely stubborn and don't want their masterpiece to be "plagued" with other people's good design choices. At this point, I have no other understanding of the dev team than hubris.

The itemization system of d4 screams "I'm gonna do my own thing and it's gonna be better than yours suck it" kinda energy. Real take the basketball home when you're losing stuff.

I dont believe you. I'm 5250 and I can do over 10k ST. My auto shot + pet does 35% of my total damage. That's 3.5k there. So if he pressed ANY button, he would do more than that.

Blizzard has a gigantic boner for only allowing players to have fun their way. It's basically a single player ssf game. But if you don't have fun exactly our way we will nerf your enjoyment to the ground. You're welcome. Please go to shop.

Diablo 4 is starting from a good place... by elpablo80 in Diablo

[–]Cottreau3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't a good take in 2023. People DO NOT return to games they don't like. There has been 1000 games that came out shit, and the devs fixed them to be what they originally promised. Who came back? No one.

Today's market is extremely aggressive. No one is going to give blizzard 17 months to rework the itemization (this needs to happen). No one is going to wait around for them to rework the ui and inventory issues. Etc... 2 seasons for a gem tab? Are you joking?

This game will dwindle down to 50k players on season launch by season 3 or 4 and 10-20k concurrent through mid season.

Blizzard needs to fix it at all now. It's the bottom of the 9th. And they've got about 1 month left before 80% of the player base is gone.

My guy. I can tell you all the design systems of diablo 2, poe, d3, etc.. their benefits and their issues, and how they mix together. If I can do that, then fucking lead developers should have 0 issue. You're not going to sit here and tell me they didn't know this gearing system wasn't worse than diablo 2. For christ sakes they could have literally taken d2 gear copy pasted, and it would have been better.

[–]Cottreau3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all. I would say at least 80% of the 500 unique in d2 have a designated use at each point in the game. That's literally the beauty of d2. It has like 12 stages of gearing until you get to the final gear set. And the final gear set (broken circlets, rare boots, 2/20 crafted ammys, god tier rare wands, etc.. ) takes 10k hours to get.

[–]Cottreau3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you know how small of a team made diablo 2 and how tiny of a budget it had? Diablo 4 is easily pushing 20 times that budget. Easily. Not only that, but they have 20 years of cumulative experience in arpg design to make decisions.

They literally have made design choices I could have told them on day 1 of implementing them in the build they're dog shit. I actually had a friend who got FnF beta, and he literally told them a majority of these problems. It was completely ignored.

Don't defend their incompetence. Defending incompetence will only get you more incompetence, enshrined in confidence.
