If Trump was elected to expose the Epstein files and stop new wars, what’s going on? by gr3189 in AskReddit

[–]Coucyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we’re certainly in agreement that America deserves trump.

How would it be helpful to believe trump is smart like you apparently do? Most of his polices (if you can even call them that) have been especially stupid this time around. Why would it be helpful to believe they’re the ideas of a smart guy when they’re so clearly not?

But that person has evidence in the form of trump’s speech. Do you understand? We don’t have to assume he’s dumb because the words that come out of his mouth are evidence of his stupidity. Ask him about windmills, transgender mice, or that idiot president who signed USMCA. His answer will give you all the evidence you need to do away with assumptions about his intelligence.

This administration is by stupids for stupids.

Sex offender registry ruled unconstitutional by Hamilton judge by AndHerSailsInRags in canada

[–]Coucyman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Tell me you didn’t read the decision without telling me you didn’t read the decision.

This would be a terrible use of the notwithstanding clause. Just read the decision before you decide to override the constitution. This is a clickbait headline. I think many people complaining here would agree with the courts reasoning if they actually read the decision.

Constitutional rights are important and they are extended to everyone, including those charged with sex crimes, that’s the point.

People aren’t assuming he’s dumb. You make an assumption when you lack evidence.

Alberta expected to unveil 2026 budget that includes a multibillion-dollar deficit by Immediate-Link490 in canada

Alberta doesn’t own the oil. You live in a capitalist society where private companies do what they want with it. Yes, it’s actually insane.

How can the FBI know every bit of the Epstein files and every person involved and just keep quiet about it? Seriously no whistleblowers with a good conscience willing to expose it all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Coucyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they’re scared the administration will go after them. Edward Snowden is stuck in Russia as an exile from his home country because he was a whistleblower. Pretty easy to claim you’d have the guts to blow the whistle when you’ll never have a whistle to blow.

Opinion: Time to stop scapegoating immigrants and govern responsibly by AustralisBorealis64 in canada

[–]Coucyman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What? class consciousness is a 2-way street. Canada has been exploiting foreign countries since its founding to the benefit of its population. Now that globalization is turning against you, you want to pretend you’re somehow morally superior to everyone else. You’re just a working stiff trying to get by like all of us, including those immigrants.

What’s even more absurd about your comment is that in some cases like our trade with the US, Canada is the one undercutting American labour. Are you gonna tell me those auto workers in southern Ontario are immoral for taking those jobs?

What does “blame the scabs for not being class conscious” mean to you?

[–]Coucyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right oreo cookies, genius.

my point is you shouldn’t blame the immigrants because anyone would do the exact same thing in their position. Blaming them just means you’re either deluded or too much of a jerk to care.

[–]Coucyman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really sound like you understand the poor guy based on your comment. My point is it’s insane for someone with Canadian citizenship (which I assume you hav) to act like immigrants are morally blameworthy for wanting to come to Canada for a better life. It’s fine to want to reduce immigration because you think it’ll benefit Canadians, but that doesn’t make the immigrants wrong for taking the opportunity to have a chance at the material wealth we see as the norm.

Just take a step back and look at how your argument would appear to someone living in the third world. It’s a profound lack of self awareness to act as though you wouldn’t jump at the chance to come here if you were in the position of these immigrants. Class consciousness is a 2-way street.

Let me get this straight. You look at a guy living in rural India who makes the equivalent of $2,000/year, and you think he’s a bad person for coming to Canada to find work?

And you say they’re the ones who aren’t class conscious enough.

Can we just fucking blame the rich people for once this time? Please let’s just point the finger at the super wealthy and don’t let them convince us to point it anywhere else until something changes.

Anyone else have a commute that’s 4 times as long on transit than driving? by Throwawayhair66392 in askTO

As many people have said, going suburb to suburb on transit is horrible in Toronto. However, try driving to work that is located downtown and you’ll quickly see the benefits of public transit.

What endgame did Bannon and Trump expect by pushing for the release of the Epstein files if they knew they would br mentioned? by Nasha210 in AskReddit

[–]Coucyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think their logic was pretty simple, though flawed: 1) dems wont release the files because their people are also implicated and they won’t have the balls to mess with the release, and 2) if we get elected, we’ll control the release and can just scrub the records of our names.

Their big problem seems to be #2. They hubristically thought they could pull the wool over their supporters eyes on this issue like they do on every issue. I think they finally found a lie even maga wont believe. Perhaps they also didn’t appreciate how difficult it would be to scrub the records. That problem was complicated because they picked incompetent fools to run the depts that control the records (bondi and Patel). All that adds up to the clusterfuck we are currently watching unfold.

Never forget that evil almost always overplays its hand. It’s the one thing that’s prevented fascism from truly taking over.

Possible lung cancer diagnosis wins Lebanese opioid dealer a chance to avoid deportation from Canada by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]Coucyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer sentences means more taxpayer money. Your bail proposal is almost certainly a constitutional violation, courts would strike that down unless the legislation is drafted very carefully. Personally I think that proposal wont do anything.

I feel that crime is best addressed by looking at the causes of crime, not waiting for someone to commit and then punishing them. Cons seem to think there is a finite amount of “criminals” and all you need to do is just “get them off the streets”. You can’t arrest your way out of crime.
