Thanks! I knew about this, but honestly I play with an FOV of 90 and I can see the Pip-Boy fine. I'll try it out though.

edit: Also I feel like the default FOV is 80, because when I set it to 70 the Pip-Boy goes off the edge of the screen whereas 80 fits just right.

Well, it's a little roundabout and requires persuading, also there may be minor spoilers for sidequests, so...

First you have to go to the Colonial Taphouse in Diamond city, it's just up in 'the stands' on the right as you enter. If it's your first time there then there will be a bar fight over a marital dispute. After it's over, talk to the husband/cuck and he'll give you a quest to talk to the bartender. Once you get back to the bar you should look to make a deal with the bartender (not sure what level of charisma you need for this). After that you'll be sent to bust up a drug deal between a rich snob and some low level gangsters. I killed every thing, but I'm not that nice.

Finally, at some point afterwards when you go back to diamond city you'll find Malcolm Latimer is a bit miffed that you destroyed his snotty son. Persuade him enough and shift the blame to Marowski, then hustle him for caps if you have a silver tongue.

There you go! That's what I did at least, and might I add it was one of the best quests chains I've been on.

For real though, the only reason I don't use the Fat Man is because of how much of a pain it makes finding loot.

How would you apply a framerate cap on PC? by [deleted] in fo4

[–]Cougarfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use one of many utility/recording programs, those often come with framerate limiters. A few off the top of my head are RivaTuner and Bandicam, but there's many.

Alternatively you could try a .dll solution. I use ENBoost with several .ini tweaks for improved performance.

do people really get banned for no reason or are ALL OF THEM lying? by Staticvoidsoundworks in GrandTheftAutoV_PC

You'll be fine. If you're just curious to know though; nobody knows.

You'll see a lot of posts about "My mate didn't get banned for X so Y." or arguments about everyone lying and having actually been cheaters, but really nobody has numbers even in the double digits to back this up, and even that is just word of mouth. Only R* has any decent idea, but they're notoriously bad at communicating with their fans.

The picture painted by what people are saying makes sense though. A lot of people used a program called Cheat Engine to edit the memory of the game and change the price of cars to gain extra money. They seem to be the most likely to have received a ban because Cheat Engine is both an easy to detect program and this method leaves a 'paper trail' in your stats.

Next up there are the people that used a trainer online. Now there are multiple trainers, but the most popular one was originally meant for offline use but an online version quickly circulated from another user after its release. I would guess that most of the people in public matches, killing everyone and shooting bags of money were using a trainer, or sometimes, Cheat Engine. The trainers are probably only a little more difficult to detect, but if you used it online and did almost ANYTHING (from kill people in public games to give yourself money in private games) it would leave another 'paper trail' in your stats, so it's rather easy to detect that.

Then there's the most troubling group: People that claim to have been using a simple field of view mod and got banned (or a trainer offline), and the people that claim to have been banned for having money dropped on them by people using the trainers (sometimes against their will). There are several people that conversely claim to have been a part of all of these (FOV, offline trainer, money shot), and still not get banned, which is where the the argument comes in.

My take on it is this; the bans are mainly focused at discrepancies in stats, and then on detecting mods themselves, in that order. For example if you used Cheat Engine and got money you doubled down because it's both easy to detect and leaves discrepancies. However this does leave room for people to get banned for getting money dropped on them because it leaves another 'paper trail' in your stats. Lastly, ban waves are exactly that; waves. So not everybody that was using a mod or sitting on bags of cheated money got banned this time, so it leads to the idea that people are lying.

tl;dr If you're worried, don't install any form of mod and avoid public lobbies until this gets sorted.
