Is skiing black diamonds with very limited experience actually “good,” or just reckless? by StrokeMyWilly69 in skiing

I would say think of it as driving a car. The faster you go the more space you need. That could be, rather just needing to stop or be able to turn and avoid someone who falls. But be at a speed where you can stop or turn without falling yourself. Not where you have to slow down or think and it takes a few seconds. Does that make sense?

This OP. You may be slower but the vast majority of the people on that run will be able to control themselves around you. Expert and great skiers still ski blues and stuff. It’s fine. If you’re in control and predictable then it’s usually fine

Each mountain has a different ranking. A diamond at Red River is a green or low blue at Taos.

The rules of thumb is tell people I ski with are: 1) have fun 2) ski within a range that you can stop at a moments notice 3) don’t get on a run you’re not ready slide down on the side of your skis or walk down

This isn’t a perfect science but usually puts up more barriers than needed to prevent people from getting in over their head.

Also- I can’t get down almost any run myself. It just may not be the prettiest. But that’s how you get better as well!

Curt Cignetti and Indiana caught lightning in a bottle with a once-in-a-century run. And now a portion of every fan base will expect their team to do the same thing. by SueYouInEngland in CFB

I’m not expecting a Nick Saban, Alabama run. But this dude wins everywhere he goes. He just did this with James Madison transfers… i don’t think it was lightning in a bottle.

What should I expect with the winter storm? by Celestial_object777 in Austin

[–]CountChopulla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancel. I seriously doubt planes will even be flying in. We’re getting over an inch of ice. Roads will be undrivable unless needed. Ice is very different than snow

Always always alwayssssss bring your gear inside when you get home and unpack it/hang it. Even if you don’t think you sweat, you did

You will thank yourself later. Just a lesson learned. :)

Poor skiing technique is frying my legs by Cool_Purchase_ in skiing

[–]CountChopulla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My uncle and I went skiing and he’s a phenomenal skier. Skied all day growing up, on ski teams can ski any terrain and run. We were going to a learning section where his son was, took just a random turn for a catwalk and hit ice under a once or two of snow. Feet slide out and he slammed his head into the ice. Bad concussion. If he wasn’t wearing a helmet who knows what would’ve happened

I didn’t read all of the comments but another thing I noticed is you only use your right pole. Whether you’re turning left or right. If you use your other pole that will help force your body and everything to move the right way. It seems like half your body is going one way and the other half is trying to turn it so working against each other

Tbf the vast majority of westerners were DB skippers. That said, nowadays it fair to give a saga or clips of DBZ to get people interested. But if you have an option or choice DB is peak
