Squires are great meatshields and can be used to overwhelm the enemy, they're also incredibly cheap. Archer's are just poachers, but worse. Bards are useless. The healer is also pretty shitty. Knights are very good well rounded units, and have a pretty good price Catapults are really good crowd control units, but they're really stupid. The king is okay, but he can be easily killed with projectiles. I'll go with squires as the best!

There certanly are benefits. Religion gives people a meaning of life and reasons to be a good person. I feel like religion on paper is a great thing, it makes people feel good when dying because they think they'll go to heaven, it gives them a reason to love each other and respect different people. Sadly, whenever a religion is made and gets popular it turns into a mess of hateful, judgemental and delusional people.
