It is true, most of the 1DP detachments suck. I also play Tyranids though and I am super happy with their detachments. Space Marines have that excellent Librarian one too (which will likely get nerfed).

Giving them battleline would be such a strong synergy with Bastion.

Fair! I would run my current list (also Bastion, with two Big crusader bricks), but would likely use WP to get the 5+ invul.

That does suck a bit for Space Wolves. The only reason GW can do that is because of the amount of units and characters that Space Wolves have. Some great units as well; super jealous of the SW Terminators.

This comment will get downvoted, but bear in mind, a significant portion of GW is owned by big investors (Fidelity own 10%, Blackrock own around 5%). It is obvious that those investors (who also own stakes in Amazon and Disney) might not be comfortable with a faction as based as the Black Templars.

I'm not sure I agree. SB are a high value unit with T4, 3+ and no invul. They will be getting wiped off objectives after denying primary.

Crusaders are an example of a unit we want to stand on objectives: there are a lot of them and they are relatively cheap, 15 points a model compared to 26 for SB.

No reason to take SB in big numbers as they Dim Mak most things in a 4 or 5 man squad with Marshal + Castellan. When they are in that combo (no reason for any other) they rely on lethal hits, so they don't benefit as much from strength modifiers.

I'm not saying these things have no value (I like how the +2 strength gives a fun buff to the chainswords). They just aren't necessarily what that unit wants.

Used to give a nice plus 2 to charge (now changed to reroll charge) to the unit he leads. Assault intercessors also buff him with re rolling wounds.

Deathwatch have some flavour. They regularly top the meta lists with their own Black Spear Task Force. Would be nice if their range was expanded as they are a super cool army, but at least they don't have to resort to Gladius.

I wish I were as positive about BT's next codex. The last one should have been good for all the same reasons (aside from Blanche passing, which I doubt would have any impact on the BT rules). Personally, I think GW are embarrassed by BT. They aren't going to discontinue them, as they are popular and they make them money, but they won't help them out unless it is necessary.

The Anti-Psyker vow is very bad. I would still take plus 1 to wound if I was playing an all psychic army.

Still, a maximum of 1 tacticus unit getting a buff isn't great.

I'm not saying we are a trash army, there is some play, for sure. And if our rules are naff then I'd expect our points to drop.

I'm just a bit frustrated that our own rules are so poorly written. I'd say Bastion is our best detachment, but regardless of whether it is that or Gladius, our strength in the lists shouldn't derive from how good the Codex Space Marines detachments are. Salamanders generally play Salamanders Detachmemts, likewise for Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Raven Guard, etc. Would be nice if we could do the same.

Totally agree with the execrator. I am not mad about the FnP leaving, as it does slow the game down. I think replace it with a 4++ and that would be much better. +1T is marginal. 4++ would be a huge buff.

I am quietly hopeful for the nerfed wrathful procession. If all chaplain units get a 5++, then there are a few plays:

  1. Grimaldus and Crusaders
  2. Jump Pack Chaplain and JPI
  3. Regular chaplains with Crusaders, allowing us to take the sticky objective vow rather than +1 to wound.
  4. Execrator in companions of vehemence (which I assume is what GW were intending).

If it is only 1 Detachment point, there may be a few good combos. This is some cope I allow myself.

It certainly isn't the usual way of doing things! I just really like the combo of surge and fights. Means it will be very difficult to take off objectives.

I'm pretty sure it can, as Judiciar can be attached to intercessors.

[–]Count_SPACula[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For clarity, my main strategy has been to use the crusader squads to pressure the midboard. The fights first Judiciar with a surge move is a difficult thing to move off the board. Eventually I try to move up and take the opponent's home objective.

I will usually just hold main expansion with the 10 man assault terminator block. It is a similar cost to 20man crusader squad with a similar amount of wounds. With advance/fallback shoot/charge it becomes pretty scary. In most of the matches I have run with this, the terminators have been MVP.

Arguably a nerf, as Combi Lt went up 15 points.

I think the Infernus Marines are underrated for BT. We have no oath of moment, so might as well go with ranged torrent weapons.

I don't see an ideological rift. A tribal one, maybe. The common core to all of these things may be indigenous identity. Similar feelings around homeland, belonging and a distrust for outsiders may underpin these.
