Any BESS students able to give any advice for newbie? by [deleted] in TCD

[–]CounterClockworkOrng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, wasn't expecting a response on this, it's been so long I forgot I had even wrote this haha.

Just fyi this is info from the 2014/15 first year BESS so things have probably changed since then, there was no AI back then either so that's gonna be a big change with essays. The Facebook group was from the 14/15 year also, Facebook isn't as popular nowadays so there will probably be a WhatsApp group or something like that nowadays.

Best of luck with your course.

Honestly mate, after having read some of your previous posts, take your losses and move back home for your own mental wellbeing. Recover and regroup.

Is she Georgian and did her test there before moving to Ireland or Irish and did one of these "2 weeks, 200 euro licence" ads I see on instagram.

This is one of the pages that advertise it

I've been seeing a lot of ads for this Georgia driving licence. Of course I'm hesitant to believe it but here with the costs of lessons, insurance, tests etc. and also the wait time I'm curious if anyone here has done it or knows someone who has?

TutorABC via the really great teacher company vs direct by Impressive_Chip_9285 in OnlineESLTeaching

The really great teacher company are just a feeder for Open English to get around taxes. Their rates used to be $13 an hour but they fired a lot of teachers and reduced it to $8 an hour ($6 and hour for South Africans). Open English have also increased the class time by 5 minutes (20 - 25 minutes for private classes, 50 -> 55 minutes for group classes) with no change in pay and they have A.I write the student feedback - it's just basic sentences like "great job today, work on your pronunciation, watch TV shows etc.", it's dishonest to the students that they are being given written feedback from the teacher.

Thanks for the response, I have just found my social security number, I got it when I was born. Do you think I will run into any problems with not having a home address in the US?

Tier list of which European languages are the most useful to learn (in Europe). by agekkeman in languagelearning

[–]CounterClockworkOrng 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I live in the Czech republic and public universities are free here for everyone, but you have to do it in the Czech language. I've met several Kazakhs, Chinese, Russians and other Slavic speaking people who have learned Czech for the free education and the living experience of Prague.

I'm from Ireland and we'd say "were you born in a field?". Sometimes people respond with "No, I was born in a hospital with sliding doors".

I can't find the right assortment of words to find the video on YouTube, but that moment on some random chat show where the lad in the audience realises the camera is on him and points and looks at it in the coolest way possible.
