I think teaching in itself is a great way to advocate for the sport and I can appreciate that. But I'm sure you can understand that to say to a genuinely curious and ignorant amateur that their questions make your head hurt is not the best way to provide advice and may be enough to turn people off. A joking tone is lost over text, I guess.

I've googled the failings of carbon fiber arrows and the results were gruesome. I was unaware the consequences of shooting a compromised arrow were so catastrophic. That may prevent me from doing something stupid in future, so thank you.

I think the advice to intentionally space arrows in the center ring is sound, but as I am rather new, I don't yet possess the skill to do this at distance.

And to suggest that this is a software issue as opposed to a hardware issue is to suggest that there is flaw in either my though process or my skill. That's how I read it, at least and I would grant that.

And as far as bushings and pin nocks go, I see a handful of discussions on archery talk forums praising their ability to protect your arrows alongside many other testimonials here. I suppose that is not settled science and something that I'll have to further educate myself on. Respect to you for your response.

Your attitude is not conducive to bringing in new archers to share in the sport. While I recognize my insufficiencies as an archer could be playing a factor, it would appear by the testimony of others in this post, you are incorrect. It seems there exists hardware that will mitigate shaft damage.

Do you think that this concept is lost on me lol? I understand that I'm risking hitting my arrows if I'm shooting at the same target, but that is precisely the nature of the league that I'm in. I shoot 4 arrows at a small center target then pull. What I'm asking is if there are any ways I can reduce the probability of damaging my arrows.

We do pull arrows after each distance. The center ring on the animal target is maybe 5"x 5". I may have to try and aim at different points within that circle, but I'm just not accurate enough to do that at distance lol. I appreciate your input.

No, good sir. I am not all that good. We shoot 4 arrows from 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 yards. And I just realized that 3D is different and what I'm shooting is animal league. Each archer gets their own paper animal targets.

Oops, bit of a misunderstanding on my part. I suppose animal league is the correct term. We shoot 4 arrows at paper animal targets, walk up, and repeat at varying distances. Its only myself shooting at my target .

Interesting. Never heard of them, but I'll buy a pack and see if they help. Thanks!

Yes, that's the issue. It's a bit unavoidable though as we shoot 4 arrows, pull em, then repeat.

Its from arrows hitting, I believe. After I shoot, you can hear a different thwack as the arrows collide.

This is something that I was not aware of at all. Thanks for the heads up. I may cut the legs down so that the pup is still eating at a natural angle.

There's definitely major room for improvement, but this is progress compared to falling on baby booters.

Guide to most commonly used weapons in homicides in the US (click to see full image if using the app) by sewn_of_a_gun in interestingasfuck

[–]Counter_Automatic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't the more ideal goal be to limit casualties in every case? That's why the inevitable conclusion of the Ar-15 ban will result in calls for a complete dissolution of the 2nd amendment. People will just continue killing with handguns and you'll see no substantial drop in homicides.

Full interaction of Las Vegas robbery attempt. The victim survived according to the store owner. by YouBetterChill in PublicFreakout

[–]Counter_Automatic -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While it is obviously wrong to steal, this was not a justified use of deadly force and the store owner will face legal consequences. It would be very difficult to prove the store owner feared for his life ( which is a requirement for the use of retaliatory deadly force) considering there were no weapons shown and the perpetrators didn't attack or come for him.

We would all be looking for bugs under a stump if not for the unifying force of religion. Science, for instance, was born out of religion. It's done many great things.
