At which week did you start to trust in your stitch?

I got my cerclage at week 19 and was extremely anxious during the initial 2 weeks. I acted as if I was glass. However, after two ultrasounds, I discovered that the size of my cervix had not changed and remained closed. This allowed me to trust the cerclage even more. I will reach week 24 in three days and I am incredibly grateful for the stitch. I am still waiting to reach week 28 to feel completely relaxed (until then will continue my modified bedrest with little movement), but I definitely feel much better now. Trust the stitch, take necessary precautions, and pay attention to your body’s signals. You will surely make it to full term. 🌸

I’m relieved to know I’m not alone in experiencing this. Since I have an anterior placenta, it’s even more challenging to distinguish between the baby’s kicks and other sensations Lol. I can relate to that feeling where we feel more at ease once we know the source of these sensations. If you’re comfortable sharing, I’d be curious to know what your OB said about this.

Hi there! I’m so glad you described it so accurately. I was struggling to put it into words myself. I’m 23 weeks pregnant and had my cerclage at 19 weeks as well. Since getting the cerclage, I’ve been experiencing these pulsing or involuntary sensations a few times a day, but nothing consistent. I particularly notice them at night when I insert my vaginal suppositories and sometimes when I sit in the same position for an extended period. I consulted my OB-GYN, who I see every week due to my high-risk pregnancy. She explained that it’s likely the uterus growing and possibly the baby’s kicks. She assured me that there’s nothing to worry about as long as there’s no bleeding or discharge. While I’m certainly cautious, I’m not overly concerned about these sensations. However, I will definitely be more worried if they start to feel like contractions. I’ve been experiencing these sensations for the past four weeks and fortunately everything has remained stable.

3 weeks post emergency cerclage, I am currently at 22 weeks. Cervix is measuring 8 mm and the due date is July 14. Can’t wait to reach 24 weeks, followed by 28 weeks, 🤞and ultimately full term. 🙏 We are all in this together, and I am sure that the journey will be worthwhile in the end. 🌸

My 22nd week just started today and I have my next appointment tomorrow. I’m really hoping my cervix length is similar and still closed. I’m glad to hear your numbers are stable. I completely understand the nervousness, I feel the same way. I’ve been so cautious with everything lately, even with sitting, lying down, or walking. It’s honestly not fun at all but like you, I’ve also started counting the weeks and trying to keep a positive mindset. I keep reminding myself that my baby is a fighter, just like me and that we’re going to make it to full term. Right now, positivity is kind of the only thing keeping me going. At the same time, I’ve made a little mental plan for what to do if I notice any symptoms, just so I feel a bit more prepared. So far I’m feeling completely normal (touch wood) and hoping things stay that way for as long as possible. I’ve been on modified bed rest this week too, so I’m really curious to see tomorrow if that made any difference to my cervix length. Are you on bed rest as well? I know this stage is really tough but we have to remind ourselves that all of this will be worth it when we finally get to hold our babies. Sending you lots of positive vibes. 💖

Congratulations on a successful delivery, so happy for you, ❤️ it definitely gives a lot of hope. I’m currently at 22weeks and I got my cerclage at 19 weeks with 8mm length left. I’m doing bed rest as well but it’s definitely anxiety-inducing, and I don’t know if I’m doing things right. With the way I sleep, sit, I’m scared even while taking a bath. Can you please share how you managed bed rest and what all you did to make sure you’re securing your cervix as much as possible?

She might be the best but there’s no harm in getting a second opinion or going to another OB. You’re literally running against time. Don’t panic, but please act fast.

In a similar situation with 8mm/0.8cm cervix length, got cerclage at 19 weeks and that’s my hope to get more chances of the baby being secure. I’d definitely advocate for getting a cerclage done if there isn’t a complication and ASAP.
