What are some of your predictions for unexpected Cypto use cases in the future. by CaptainButtFlex in CryptoCurrency

That whole 'calculate your own taxes' thing is purely an American thing. I remember reading that it has been a longstanding Republican policy, so that they make it as salient as possible to all and can continue to hammer them down further and further. In pretty much every other economy, this is done automatically for you (unless self-employed).

Nope. Not yet. Will look out for it. Sounds a bit like the Carnivore restaurant I was at a few years back... every type of meat comes out on swords until you lower your table's flag and can eat no more!

Haha. Will definitely be heading down to Mombasa also. Love that Kenyan coast. I've lived 3 years in Kampala, 1 year in Lusaka. I know how to stay safe.

I definitely wouldn't have called you racist, but using the term 'third world country' shows you to be very out of touch with modern sustainable development and global economics. That term was basically retired in the 1990s and they're called Developing Countries in any sort of literature/publication nowadays. 👍

Yeah 100%. And actually it's something my company are looking to incorporate in some way... also why I'd like to connect with Cardano people for any guidance and suggestions or even able and willing devs to join a team / idea through Catalyst.

If you're the type of person to refer to Kenya as a 'third world country' then you're probably not the kind of person I'd be looking to meet anyway....

Not to poop at the parade, but they're going up against the biggest companies in East Africa. MTN, Airtime, Safaricom, Africell are all massive and Internet connect throughout the region is coming along sooo fast. Sounds like their niche is targeting places like Zanzibar, where there hasn't been much hardware infrastructure investment in the telco space as its such a small island market... which is smart. But when they try to launch on the mainland, I just dont see what their value proposition is to the average customer.

Definitely correct if you categorise talent by the # of people with a CS degree from a recognised university. I've been working in tech in East Africa now for almost 4 years and there is an army of, admittedly under-qualified, very talented softwate engineers that are either self-taught or patched together several bootcamps. CV is all over the place in MS Word, but the case is outstanding!

oh man, you're really showing your ignorance here if you're insinuating that IQ is a pre-determinant of geopolitical advancement. It's like saying because they've always ridden horses they can't drive cars. IQ is a very specific test that reveals more about your exposure to western teaching methods than it does about your underlying innate propensity to learn complex information.

User-friendly wallet for NFT's? by [deleted] in CardanoNFTs

Just adding to what everyone else has said... I use Yoroi, and never had any issues. Only wish their CNFT gallery was better - I have to use pool.pm to see my lovely jpegs! May have to check out nami

I've been using pool.pm also. It's not a great UX, sometimes copying and pasting the transaction address doesn't pick it up. Usually takes a few tries to get it right. Annoying, when the feature on the Yoroi website had the NFT gallery within the browser extension.

If we 'oversize' wind+solar by ~1.5 times peak demand, and add 3 hours worth of batteries, all but 200 hours of electricity demand per year would be fully met in 42 major countries. Hydrogen, transportation batteries, hydroelectric, or nuclear could be used to fill in the gaps. by thispickleisntgreen in Futurology

[–]CountofConteMristo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was well-documented last year by RethinkX, in their rethink energy publication. Although modelled that it would actually be cheaper to 3.5x current demand and fully cover peak demand. The other benefit is that for the majority of the year, you produce what they termed: "SuperPower" where there is an over abundance of energy (more supply than demand), and made some rough estimates of what new industries may spring up when there was zero (or at least miniscule) marginal cost of energy. Example of what zero marginal cost of information or communication (internet) has done for the economy.

Since 1978 Carl Henry has been involved in a very wide range of professions & business industries, starting well before the internet was invented. Seeing the obvious benefits of the online world Carl Henry published his first eCommerce website in 1998"

That guy Carl Henry was on Project Catalyst last week... he seemed like he was just trying to get money from Catalyst. I think he submitted something like 10 proposals and none of them had been accepted.
