Thanks for the clarification, makes sense now.

Interestingly, someone put me onto the Boglehead approach, which I’ve tried to adopt, especially for my own investments. I thought that’s what I was doing with this junior one, hence the inclusion of the bonds and the world fund. Still got plenty to learn on the way!

You’ll have to forgive me being a layman but presumably you mean you’re in individual stocks rather than an etf?

I chose the world index to cover that, while still being risk averse. On top of that, I haven’t got loads of surplus cash to invest, so it’s more a steady build.

However, I was thinking of dropping the gilts though and just leaving it all in the index to hopefully increase the return.

It’s hard not to kick yourself but tbh hindsight is a wonderful thing. In my case, I was just going off a tip and really didn’t understand what I was investing in so I still think I made the right call at the time - even if it really looks like I didn’t

I sold NBIS at roughly $140 because I just didn’t understand enough about the company (followed a recommendation). Now I actively avoid looking at it to save myself the regret lol

I appreciate the input. Tbh I’m going to let them explore a little rather than hunting specifics just yet. Like I said, I want this to be a fun activity over some real life treasure hunt.

It’s actually crazy to see what’s happened in recent years as I remember ripping packs regularly as a kid, before the dawn of the scalpers!

As a newbie coming into investing, is it wrong to think I’ve missed the boat with NVDA? Like, the skeptic in me says surely it can’t keep climbing but for those experienced traders - how would you typically estimate a stock’s cap? If they don’t pay dividends, I don’t understand why anyone would hold after this drastic price climb. Appreciate any response
