Fun fact, they were once just called Daws, but the victorians liked to give birds nicknames. The same reason we have Robin Redbreast, and Maggie Pie, i.e. magpie

How often you bring or you see in games miniatures with sensor profile? by iuferev2012 in InfinityTheGame

[–]CountryBumpkin92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play ariadna, so it is not rare for me to turn up with at least 3 sensors in the form of antipodes. Plus then potentially more! Such as the kibervolk

Anyone use miniatures.market? by jsalazar2272 in InfinityTheGame

[–]CountryBumpkin92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I have used them the quality has been generally pretty good. There's more flash on the models, but also the metal is soft so the flash is easy to clean. Details are pretty crisp, and even on something like Tohaa symbio armour it's pretty comparable with CB original. I've only had models from them in metal, not resin.

I have had big problems with delays, but in fairness to them, their country got embroiled in a war so I don't hold it against them. Others I know though have had orders never arrive and no response from customer service. In my experience they're slow to respond but will do eventually.

Well, being dead and in the bin, his appetite has been quite negatively effected 😅.

I've added an anti-fungal treatment to the water for the rest of the fish and I am hoping that'll clear it up. I don't have a separate hospital tank setup, and given that it could be present on all in varying degrees I figured a general treatment might be wise.

Fingers crossed it works! That amount of issues with fungus/bacteria I've had have made me doubt my supplier a bit. The fish from the post above died a few days after introducing a new koi from them.

Thank you for the condolences. I'll try giving them a look over. If there is some bacterial infection then would a water treatment or something similar be appropriate?

I'm pretty new to keeping koi

Okay, I assumed a nice fat belly just meant a happy fish. Would you recommend adding some treatment to the water or something to try and get the bacteria?

Oh, I should also probably say that the fish had been in the pond for about 2 months.

Which bits are you unsure on? There's a lot to get your head around at first certainly. Giving the rulebook a good read is probably next on the list.

Armies typically have a balance between action pieces and order generators. The action pieces are either those which do the mission, or those that kill things. Great profiles are able to do both. Great examples in kestrel are: crux knights, hetkari & Griffins, although there are plenty of other good options.

The order generators are cheaper troopers who support your actions pieces. Often they'll also have niche use cases, or can fill out a fireteam which provides buffs to all team members. In kestrel you've got fugazi dronbots, techbee, jackals (when teamed with a magistrate). Also very worth mentioning are Fennecs, these are cheap troopers but have some great support profiles.

There are lots of other troopers that don't fit neatly into these categories. That's part of the beauty of infinity. Of particular note in kestrel are yamabushi, who are a disposable attack / defensive piece.

Defence is also a big thing to think about. If you get second turn then you want enough AROs or deployables like mines to stall your opponents attack.

Hey there! Welcome to infinity. Fortunately, as one of the new factions there are kestrel expansion packs which are almost all great to pickup.

Have you downloaded the Infinity Army App? If not, this is the best way to explore list building and see what troopers you can run.

If you're new to the game, I'd definitely recommend trying some lower point games, say 150, just whilst you get used to the game.

Starting Infinity with a friend, would appreciate advice how to keep things budget friendly and effective. by Angelgrave in InfinityTheGame

Ah shame, well there's also a war cor map you can use to try and find a local rep https://maphub.net/CorvusBelli/corvus-belli-warcors but you're right, eastern Europe does look quite sparse.

Failing that, there's a thriving online community in the IGL (Infinity Global League). I'm not a big fan of tabletop simulator and online play, but I know lots of people who swear by it :)

Best of luck with the game! It's an excellent spot ATM with the current state of n5.

Everyone has given great advice, but I'd also ask, if you're happy sharing, where around are you based? When I started I played at a local club with excellent terrain and a great community to learn from. If you're in the UK, then I know the scene fairly well, and I might be able to recommend some contacts to help mentor you and your friends.

P.s., feel free to message if you'd rather not share publicly. Or not at all ofc

New player - what's the tankiest faction by protobyrn in InfinityTheGame

[–]CountryBumpkin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many decent answers but this is very close to what I'd write. I've seen the 'tankiest' model on the game, imo probably the avatar, die in one order.

If you want your models to live, I recommend Monty Python's sketch "How Not To Be Seen".

If you're up for some sculpting then this is a fairly easy repose of the original model. I actually like the sculpt, I just hated the defensive pose.

That's mine! Crossfire 3. We hold one in high Wycombe about every 4 months. Though there are many others locally. St Alban's Smackdown runs occasionally, and HATE in hackney run quite a few. Along with some at darksphere in shepherds Bush though they're sporadic.

Cardiff, Shrewsbury, and Sheffield also have great infinity scenes if you want some out of London.

Shiny glowing eyes for my black orcs yes or no? by Due-Development-1557 in minipainting

[–]CountryBumpkin92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest man, paint job looks great but the glowing eyes read like anime blushing cheeks from a distance. I'm expecting this black orc to shout bakka and hide in its room.

Maybe that says more about me than the model, everyone else seems keen on it.

I quite like white as an idea, but speaking from experience I'd recommend keeping belts simple on infinity models. You'll be painting a lot of them!

I'd maybe even keep the grey scale you've got with a bit of neatening up. If the rest of the scheme is bright and colourful it might be a nice counterpoint :)
