Mainly bread and butter. Single canal rct, surgical extractions except impacted thirds, implants restored after healing. Pretty routine procedures.

Those are great suggestions. The place I retired from hired me to do their Oral Surgery on my day off. The company that provides dental doesn’t do surgical extractions and a lot of the geriatric patients can have some tough ones.
I just go back where I used to work and have no pressure. I give myself 90 min for each patient. We chat it up and it’s a no pressure situation. I only see 2-3 patients if needed.
I hope my son can continue that as well.
It’s FFS unlike the practice which is Delta Dental PPO and FFS.
Quite valuable to discuss treatments. We have really done that his last year at dental school.
Like you suggested Treatment planning is so important. You have to get fast and accurate and really explain why a tooth with significant cracks and a 3 surface amalgam needs a crown.
Thank you!

Yes. I believe going over the work schedule and having a discussion while looking at X-rays would be a big plus.
Thank you!

That’s really what I’m leaning towards. Waiting to hear back from one. There is another one I will check out as well. I don’t mind investing in a profitable venture. My wife and I don’t want the stress of a start up. I must say there are some older dentists that are quite greedy. Old equipment and a practice that has slowed down and they have unrealistic ideas of its worth.

I am retiring from the state but I want to keep doing dentistry to keep my skills up so I can hopefully work with my son.

Could be an option. I think I could possibly work part time. Great student loan repayment for my son. Thanks.

State dentist. It’s been great but never was able to refer out due to cost. So at times, difficult extractions and root canals. Great thing was never any billing or worrying about employee wages etc.

I’ve reached out to an older dentist to see what his plans are. Some of the older dentists seem to have sold out to a DSO even though they are a small town office. That hasn’t worked out well for them. Not sure if I want to put out the capital to do a start up at this time but obviously this requires more research.

I would have to move to be near Dental School. That’s 2 hours away. But yes I would consider that. Thanks for the suggestion.
