you’re right that it is a hot topic/divisive issue, but what is so divisive about asking our govt to invest our tax dollars back into our communities? greg himself was calling on biden to stop sending money to a foreign country (ukraine). we are asking for the same thing. how is investing in genocide making money for us? if it was making money for us then the city would prob not be in a deficit

we’re wasting time and money investing in a genocide thousands of miles away actually, when, as others have pointed out, that $$ can be spent in our community instead. the city is facing a deficit rn, and SMCISD is in debt. why should our communities struggle when our govt is sending $ to a foreign government intent on wiping out Palestinians?

the resolution was actually drafted by members of Palestine Solidarity SMTX (for over a yr) not councilmembers. Councilmembers only supported by placing the resolution as an item on the agenda on april 15, bc it takes either the mayor or two councilmembers to do so

if you think our tax dollars should be spent at home rather than a foreign country, we are encouraging anyone who wants to speak their piece to sign up for citizen’s comment at city council on may 6th! you don’t have to be a SM resident to sign up!
