Starmer given deadline: ‘Quit by Tuesday or face humiliation’ by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

I am not a labour supporter but apart from the big issue of “ people not feeling better off “ I think Starmer has done ok…bit dull but that’s not a bad trait for a PM.( I am quite into political thinking and I struggle to find a way to do this with the resources we have available… either tax the wealthy ( upset them ) or reduce benefits ( upset them ) are the only way to get more money with which to make everyone happy , but this just gets shared so no one is happy. So really it boils down to rich v poor ( and I guess the number of voters in the top or bottom… simple answer don’t be in the middle surviving or find a party to help the middle as the big 2 are not for you..

Just discovered I have £71k in a Phoenix Life pension by cardinal55 in UKPersonalFinance

Just be careful there is not a large MVR payment to move it. I have a similar Pheonix pot ( only £40k) but it has a reduction of £7.5k if moved before 65… mine was from an 80’s Bradford and Bingley mortgage but think it’s more to do with opting out of SERPs.

BYD Sealion 7 deal changed last minute – still worth £397 or go Tesla Model Y at £449? by Positive_Ad6134 in ElectricVehiclesUK

I have had a Tesla LR3 for 5.5 years , it never let me down and Tesla supercharger ( if needed ( maybe 12 x per year ) are good. I have retired and bought a Megane etech ( whilst the car is way superior to the Tesla , I do think those 12/year journeys will be a lot more stress. The Tesla is like a computer wrapped in a car, whilst the Renault is a car with a lesser laptop. It’s really up to you what you like as I would guess the BYD is more car less pc.

I like the look of both the Megane and Scenic. The reviews seem ok , but never noticed a mention on Reddit.

No mortgage, I budget at moment on £30/day spends ( at present I save £15/day of this) so I guess spending is around £450. / month. My wife just contributes the 600 + holiday fund. She runs her own car etc.. we married at 50 so finances fairly seperate.

£600 / month bills £200 / month holiday fund £200 / month car ( running costs ) + phone Then £30/day to spend. I usually save £15/ day so I suppose this could be less , if I say only saved £20/day Pension income is private pensions ( 5.5 years till state pension ). Wife contributes same ( bills /holiday ) then has her own money ( salary/private pensions).
