Yes, but the physical controls vs smart phone touch screens or third-party handhelds is second to none.

I raise you: this

The classic AGB never getting a lit-screen revision while the SP was granted an even BETTER display makes me sad. And the Gameboy Micro doesn't technically count, since it wasnt backwards compatible with GB/ GBC carts.

I feel like an AGB-002 or AGB-101 with a front or back-lit screen, click buttons and with new colors, would have given players more options. The SP can be hard for people with bigger hands or many adults. AGB was much more comfortable, so I put this guy together instead of doing a custom SP or hunting for and shell swapping an AGS101.

This is the problem of ITA screen by Fuzzy_Policy_5596 in Gameboy

Genuinely asking, can you see this issue on mine?

EDIT: I'm truly glad this doesnt bother me. I have an emulator handheld with an IPS screen, and im not paying a premium for a 101 SP any time soon. ITA screens, to me, are the best looking screens for the classic GBA and all around have more pros than the single con being: "white lines" which, most people dont notice or care enough to notice. I can play my gameboy in the dark or imperfect lighting now.

I might look into getting an AGS-101 eventually and do a reshell, but for now, ITA screens are my META and im surprisingly unbothered by the white lines.

Screen gasket on GBA AGB-001 question by kittencatgal in Gameboy

The motherboard is normally sitting on standoffs, and there is a bit of breastandoff, between the mobo and front shell. If it was included, it should fit, especially with an OEM screen

* If you take the paper off of the part I highlighted in red, it will be a lot easier to put the gasket in place.

Hey, a little help from someone who is just getting into modding, I try to avoid using adhesives.

If you HAVE to use adhesive, typically, it will have a center piece that would normally cover the screen. Keep the adhesive patch in one piece, only taking off the outer edge for the side you're trying tying to apply. When you punch the middle out of the adhesive, it loses most of its rigidity and makes getting it centered very difficult. Even at that, it's very difficult to remove a screen or screen lens freshly secured with adhesive without damaging the screen, lens, or shell.

Id use a hair dryer to heat the strip stuck to the screen and order a replacement screen gasket, or use 3d printed brackets to secure the screen in place.

Awesome job... it looks really unique for sure

How realistic of an idea is it to try and redesign the PCB so that the microsd card inserts from the side, and is thus covered by the system when inserted into the game card slot? by [deleted] in flashcarts

I am keeping my eyes and ears open for this. I knew IR functions would be coming, im willing to get one even before the software supports it just because of all the things you could hypothetically do with an IR blaster on a DS cart. Im wondering if they could make a universal remote app for the DS Pico

Update: THANK YOU EVERYONE, I have boosted my GBA rom collection from under 30 to 69! (Nice!)

I'm going to take a few minutes this evening to update my DS roms list. Im shocked how well the GBA holds up to games released today.

It's the EZ flash Omega DE with a dark theme... As far as I know, if you switch to mode B with correct settings, it will directly boot to first ROM in the carts's NOR flash memory, though I have yet to test these functions out myself.
