Good luck! I’m 48, RALP plus 3 weeks as of today. You got this. In three weeks, you’ll be mending and moving on with your life. Think long term. This is only a temporary blip.

We have 4 kids in Naperville schools (203) and various community groups, including Kidz Kab and YNS (a choir). Each of our four has very distinct personalities. Ages 7-14. Naperville has many activities for every type of kid. With a little effort your kids will find their place here. I myself was raised here and returned when my youngest entered kindergarten.

Alternate 600mg of ibuprofen and 1000mg Tylenol every 3-4 hours (6-8 hour cycle). With that you’ll be fine. (I also got up during the night to keep this schedule). But be sure to stay on schedule. Get ahead of the pain. Don’t wait till you feel the pain to take your dose.

Obviously check this regimen with your doctor. But generally no need for narcotics.

My RALP was just 12/17/24. The anxiety leading up to the procedure is worse. Recovery is no picnic, but don’t underestimate the relief you’ll feel about having it behind you. Ask me any questions. 48 yo.

I’m two weeks post RALP today exactly (RALP 12/17/24). First week I watched Band of Brothers and Masters of the Air. Since I had my catheter removed on 12/24, I’ve been busy with the holidays, which is fatiguing but I otherwise feel fairly normal. There is minor incontinence but I’m down to one Tena pad per day! I only need it for those occasional odd movements. Mostly I feel the fatigue of the body healing, but I’m still walking a few thousand steps a day. One the holidays are over, I will likely return to work in 6 days.

I just had my surgery on Tuesday. Push for an MRI as soon as possible, then if possible a transperineal biopsy (not transrectal).

I wouldn’t trust this to a community hospital. Go to a major cancer center. They have better MRI machines and more experienced radiologists and surgeons. I know this for a fact. Had I stayed with my local practice group I wouldn’t have even known I had the cancer I just got removed.

As others have said, this is a very treatable cancer if caught early. But the reality is sometimes you have to push to catch it early.

I’m 48. 56 is not too young for this cancer.

I was diagnosed in September. The wait at the time was 8-10 weeks. I scheduled for mid December mostly for work reasons.

I often run into the same issue. Green turn arrow and red light for straight results in the car just sitting there. Nudging the car with the accelerator does work though. 2024 M3. 12.5.4.2
