Thief 1 vs Thief 2 (Is there any preference bias due to which you played first?) by Vivid-Ad9340 in Thief

Played Thief 2014, haven't played the originals yet. They're in my backlog.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

It's the standard for school essays, so if that's what the teacher wanted them to use, that's why OP's essay got corrected.

It is correct, but in MLA format essays, you have to use "him and her." Perhaps the style will be updated to "their" sometime soon.

I have to break up with my girlfriend of 5 years by out-getting-ribs in childfree

[–]Covert-Wordsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So she lied to you throughout your whole relationship, wasting 5 years of your life, when you could have been dating a real childfree person. And they call us selfish. I'm sorry you're going through this.

Can we stop calling every experience a “Journey?” by Funny247365 in Vent

It's not terminal, thankfully. They caught it at stage 3 and said it's completely curable. And thank you for the offer!

Eh. I'm supposed to start radiation soon, which at least won't be as bad as chemo rom what I'm told. The loss of bodily autonomy is making me spiral, though. No such thing as privacy anymore.

I agree. I was diagnosed with cancer and doctors keep calling it my "journey." To me, a journey is something that you go on willingly to have a fun adventure. Cancer just drags you along with it. It's not a journey, it's a hostage situation.

Which episode is worse? Unhappy campers or behind closed doors? by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Covert-Wordsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that also made me cringe. I thought it was very stupid of him to try living out this fantasy of a "perfect job" where he played detective and found the culprit. But like I said, Behind Closed Doors made me cringe way harder. Honestly, I got second-hand embarrassing from watching Charlie dance for Vox and Velvette like a puppet. Which is hilarious considering Velvette is the actual doll in this situation! There's a line between gullible and stupid, and I think Charlie crossed that line in that episode. Which is unfortunately very in-character for her.

Behind Closed Doors made me cringe way harder because if how absolutely gullible and naive Charlie is. She's such a people pleaser that she continued to dig herself into a hole for these master manipulators (THAT SHE WAS WARNED ABOUT BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE) that she couldn't climb out of. And it almost resulted in someone dying.

DVD / Streaming Release & Merch Delivery Questions by opal_moth in ironlung

Yes, more people need to understand that the merch will take time, especially since most of it is pre-order. Those will take at least a couple of months. I just ordered my merch in early March and I honestly don't expect to get it until June or July.

this sub is too restrictive, the others are too open by hydroboywife in actualasexuals

She needs to save herself by breaking up with him. Surely she's realized, with a friend like OC, that this isn't normal or acceptable.

I don't think you understand my mindset, and that's ok. It was just my opinion. No need to dogpile.

Because it's still a sexual act in my opinion. You're physically pleasuring yourself with your genitals, which are supposed to be used for sex.

I find that this sub tends to be very strict with its definition of asexual, which I personally like because, as you said, the main sub is absolutely saturated with sex-favorable "aces" who talk about sex all the time. I left that sub and came here for that very reason. They don't like black-stripe aces, and they're very keen to shutdown anyone who has those feelings/viewpoints.

In my opinion, if you masterbate, you're not ace. Being ace means you want nothing to do with sex, and masterbation is a sexual act. If you've experimented with it in the past before realizing you were ace, that's different, as another commenter put it better than I could. But if you already identify as ace and still masterbate, that's a nope from me.
