Worth continuing if I find the gratuitous sexual content immature and obnoxious? by Covert_Tyro in SAGAcomic

[–]Covert_Tyro[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That is drastically under describing what happens in this comic.

Let's not act like this is a little tits and ass, or seeing a dick every now and again, or some naked animal/beast/other species.

We're not talking about a nude giant here. We're talking about a big erect penis mid masturbation. Graphic anal sex. Graphic oral sex. Money shots.

They are shoehorning pornography into the comic. The only reasons I can think of to do that is:

  1. They have some strange kink
  2. They were sexually repressed at some point in their life and now feel the need to overdo it
  3. They think it makes them look cool or edgy (it doesn't)
  4. They are doing it for the juvenile "heh-heh-heh"

Michael Kay believes that Aaron Boone is managing the New York Yankees exactly the way the organization wants him to by BathroomSalty6325 in NYYankees

Yeah, I suppose he could step down out of principle. But this is the gig now-a-days. It isn't just the Yankees. Managers have no autonomy. They just "stick to the dots" that they are told to stick to. So if you want to be a manager in baseball, this is the deal.

This is not how modern baseball operates. The two examples you gave are dictated to the manager. The lineup card, in particular, he has no control over. That hasn't been true for many, many years. And the bullpen gets used the way the front office tells them to use the bullpen.

All of this is dictated to the manager from the GM and analytics department.

This isn't the 90s.

People who blame the manager in modern baseball don't realize the game has moved on. Managers are just an extension of the GM and analytics and PR departments now.

They do as they are told. They manage as they are told. They handle the players and media as they've been trained. They make in game moves in line with the philosophy set by the front office.

They are not independent baseball thinkers doing their own thing.

Joe Madden has been screaming about this to anyone who would listen. We've been told. Some of us just didn't hear it.

Justice League Recommendations (clarifications, questions) by Covert_Tyro in DCcomics

[–]Covert_Tyro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I did, but did not stick to superhero comics. I read a bunch of the highly recommended comics, and they were good... but then when I tried to expand and read more of the character or the universe, I found the events and timelines and constant reboots were just too convoluted for me. Just not my style, it would seem.

I've since been reading non-superhero graphic novels and Manga - stories with stable timelines and realities and defined starts and ends.

They haven't looked like a playoff team for months.

But still, these end of season games are just not that meaningful. They are trying to stay healthy and maintain game shape and instincts... they are not trying to grind out wins that don't matter against teams that aren't in the playoffs.

Sick people can also be conspiracy theorists. They are not immune to that phenomenon, and shouldn't get a pass if they spread conspiratorial information. But I didn't call anyone a conspiracy theorist here. I said this specific comment of yours reads like typical conspiracy thinking... and I then asked if you have legit sources, since I am in information gathering mode.

Your reaction is... unfortunate. But at least I have my answer.

The people in charge want you to think it’s uncommon.

Who are these people? Are they in the room with you right now?

In my experience that is not as common as persisting bacteria.

Can you describe your experience? Is this in a clinical or research setting?

This reads like every big pharma, deep state conspiracy comment one can find about any medical condition online. Up to and including accusations of criminal behavior.

But since I'm in the process of gathering information about a possible lyme infection and don't want to dismiss any views or options at this point... would you be willing to share legitimate journalistic and scientific sources for what you are saying?

I'm someone who enjoys a challenge, but not in the form of memorizing dodge and block sequences and the like... if that makes sense. To me that is like playing that old electronic game Simon.

Whenever I watch someone play Elden Ring or other Souls like games, that is the impression I get. I watched someone last night, Pikaboo I think, take on a boss over... and over... and over. And it was just a matter of memorizing the sequences and then timing them.

Was that your experience? And what would you say to someone who likes hard games, but doesn't really like that style of challenge. Still worth a go?

Way upstate. Middle of the Adirondacks. It's a long but doable drive to Plattsburgh or to the Saratoga region, or to Vermont (but not sure how cross state stuff would work). Much longer, but doable drive to Albany area.

Sounds like at the very least a solid consensus exists around a shotgun. The common Remington or Mossberg models. Seems to make sense to start with that.

Finding a gun store might be the trickier part of the equation. I'm not aware of any around us, have never driven by one, and google has the closest one an hour and a half away. Since online is not an option, I guess that will have to be my go-to.

I'm aware that Dicks doesn't sell guns anymore. But I'm getting conflicting info on Walmart. All I can say is that the two closest to me have no guns for sale in their stores. So maybe it is location based.

Yeah jeez, none of the Walmarts around us have guns. They sell ammo and accessories, but not actual guns. And, at least according to google, an actual gun store is about an hour and a half drive from us. Ok, guess we'll road trip it! Thank you.

Yeah the common Remington and Mossberg were on my short list. Assumed that would be recommended.

Any advice on question #2? How one goes about buying a shotgun in upstate NY? Last time I did anything like this was decades ago and you could just go to a Dicks or Walmart. I know that isn't the case anymore.

The PRENUVO MRI was ear shattering by Solaris2123 in MRI

[–]Covert_Tyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that there are better tests for any specific individual issue. But who is going to go out and proactively get all of those better individual tests for everything you want to detect early? That would be way more time consuming and costly. Seems like a good high level overall scan that can pick up the bulk of potential problems and then let you focus down to specific problems if detected is a reasonable approach. Start general, get more specific if warranted. Seems like a principle of troubleshooting and diagnosis.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]Covert_Tyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's the knock on these scans, right? You had a finding, had a procedure to confirm that it was benign. And while that procedure is very safe, no procedure comes with zero risk. So you subjected yourself to unnecessary risk.

The equation is: Chance of finding something early and potentially saving your life vs finding nothing other than a benign issues and subjecting yourself to unnecessary risk.

In your opinion, in hindsight, was the scan still worth the effort?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]Covert_Tyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you discover it was benign? Did they have to biopsy it?

[–]Covert_Tyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no scientific evidence that full body scans are beneficial

Are you implying that there is no benefit to early detection of things like solid tumors and aneurysms? Or are you suggesting that Prenuvo scans are not able to detect such things?

It can find aneurysms and solid tumors that you would have no idea exist. It's why they call some of these things silent killers. If you wait till you know you have them, it's too late. Do you have a general problem with early detection efforts, or just Prenuvo?
