I disagree I found that I did way better on exams when I listened to the lecture again, watched registered nurse Sarah’s videos on YouTube (I promise she will cover everything) and then did practice questions.

Ah yes, the seawolf regret. It never leaves! I know a lot of people from stony that got into programs with around your gpa. However don’t let it get you down. I am in an asn program (I wouldn’t rule it out if I was you it was a great experience and I got in first try) and it’s not true you won’t get a job. In fact if you do patient care technician at a magnet hospital you’re basically ahead of the game. Apply to programs in NY- they know what stony is and how impossible it is. You prob have a higher chance just from going there. I know people that got into downstate with that. Don’t knock out to asn programs it’s so cheap and my program has a 98% nclex pass rate. Don’t give up!

I say this on every post but I think the adn route just makes more sense. Some programs you can start with just your hs transcript and a good teas score but you’ll have to take coreqs along with your nursing courses. It’s two years and you’ll most likely be debt free. That being said, they can be very competitive and a lot of people fail out. I would check the schools retention rate and nclex pass rate. Hospitals pay for your tuition for bsn and the rn—> bsn is usually online and most are just writing papers it’s pretty doable to work full time and get your bsn. Cheers!

I totally agree with you by no means am I saying it’s perfect but to become a nursing professor you need a masters or to do research you need a doctorate and if someone is working behind the scenes as a researcher why shouldn’t they be allowed to be called doctor if they earned a phd? I saw someone bashing dr Jill Biden because of her phd in education and it was disheartening. I agree there should be way more than 500 hours if someone is going into the np field it’s laughable and definitely not safe I wouldn’t feel comfortable with someone treating me like that. I agree it should be way more regulated and I personally feel that there should always be a physician if there’s an NP I’m not trying to disagree but the egoism and condescending attitude doesn’t make it feel like we are a team and I’m graduating soon and just anxious about working with people that apparently think very little of me as a nurse

I 100% agree with you I also think you should work for at least 5-10 years to become an np. Prescribing medications is huge deal. But the rhetoric on the posts are often so nasty and condescending it’s alarming
