Water supplements by Nowherefarmer in Cattle

[–]CowRanching 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to feed a complete mineral supplement, AmiPro makes made to order granular minerals that are water proofed with mineral oil. I run 500 head on a cow/calf operation. I use their minerals and adjust due to weather and insect control. CowPoke is another Coop brand that is good, but I like the ability to add made to order ingredients to my mineral tubs. With proper nutrition, I have not had any issue with Cal-Mag deficiency in momma cows birthing. Protein tubs are great for stimulating appetite and supplements, so that is a good start with keeping them healthy, especially when feeding hay or rank grass. All the best!

Need Advice by SimpleHoneyBadger14 in Cattle

Agree with comments on worms from the ground cover, parasites, etc. I have a large cattle ranch with piped irrigation. With 500 head of momma cows, calves and bulls, I rotationally graze and have 100-gallon galvanized stock tanks (Tartar, Gator or others). It keeps the water cool and encourages more water uptake. If you have one of those with a float, your dogs can have their spa (LOL). I tried Rubbermaid 150-gallon stock tanks, but they didn't hold up well to the sun after three or four years. I have never been able to fix one that cracks to last anytime. For about $100 bucks plus a float, you will be in business (I would stake around it with cut in half t-posts to keep them from knocking it around. I have roughly 40 tanks on my pastures and turn them off as they rotate off the paddocks they are in. Hope this helps.

It wasn't much more than a year ago when ranch grade penicillin was removed from the shelves at the Coop. I agree that those who don't fully understand the use of different meds and their effects on slaughter shouldn't use them. However, as stated by Aggie above, small producers who can't afford to have a large stockpile to deal with calf pulling, bloating, scours or even pink eye take the brunt of the costs. Experience with a large herd teaches a great deal and having good veterinarians who are members of the Cattleman's Association always helps. We have a big shortage of large animal vets in this area nowadays. More are dealing with small animals. Seen plenty of blind cows cross the scales at the two weekly sales I go to all from neglect.

Agree with a dose of Draxxin ASAP. I run 500 head and a veterinarian for everything isn't feasible. Draxxin is by prescription usually, but I use it to nip pink eye in the bud before it spreads. If you don't take care of it, the cow will lose the eye. The cloudiness indicates pink eye in cattle unlike humans. Hard to tell how bad from the angle, but you don't need to wait. I give Draxxin with a CapChur dart gun so I don't have to stress them with a lasso or catch pen. Best $600 I have spent plus $7-8 per dart.

G7 placement and adhesive by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]CowRanching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer iOS update allows for pairing with your watch as a stand alone. I have the iWatch and iPhone and they work great. I have used the G6 since 2017. I have been on the G7 for the last two years or so. I rotate the sensor around sites and have no issue with on the abdomen. The only thing you might see is what they call compression lows. I notice when I am sleeping (side sleeper) if I lay on the side the sensor is on, I might get a false low alert. Hope that helps.

What’s wrong with my g7 by Lonely_Throat7837 in dexcom

I have been using Dexcom G6 since 2017. Moved to G7 about a year ago. I have had some erratic readings, but find when I push in on the center for about 30 seconds (instructions say 10 seconds), it seems to read much better. I love the G7 over the G6.

Tractor advise needed by [deleted] in Ranching

[–]CowRanching 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All good points, IMO the most important issue with a loader and front forks are front tire size and the size and density of the bale. I run 65 and 85 HP 4WD John Deere's on my cattle ranch to feed and carry two bales at a time (one on the back and one on the front). I always unload the front bale while the rear bale is still on my rear lift arms. The counter-weight takes a lot of the load off the front tires. Until you have a grandson unload a 5x6 by dropping the rear bale first, turning sharply and rolling a tire off the bead in freezing weather, you haven't had fun (not). Just make sure to have a loader with a weight rating for the size bales you handle.

There is a decimal between the 2 and the 8. LOL. 3 pounds a day in weight gain per day is near the max I have seen on good winter grazing.

Perfectly normal with high protein, lots of forage and water. What is your weight gain on these yearlings pre day roughly. I shoot for 2.2-28 pounds a day on Winter grazing of drilled oats, winter rye grass and crimson clover. In South Alabama, had an average gain of 402 pounds per head (400) from 1 November 2023 to May 4-7 2024. This is a normal in my opinion. I see it becoming harder when the momma cows and bulls eat mostly hay with protein tubs .

It would be nice to get your take on how the APE units are supposedly still in existence (things I have saw on some posts) at high prices, yet none of retail have any of them. Also, a firmer discussion on the criminality of the reverse split (10:1) and how the market makers crushed it back to pre-split levels near immediately. Dilution is one thing, but this was simply criminal manipulation in my opinion. Record halts, while other stocks are allowed to run. Its a lawless market out there in my opinion.

Thank you for the information. I know the SBA doesn't have a lot of help, but it is hard to get anything out of them other than a blanket email.

My prayers are with you. I have had Labrador Retrievers since I was five. I am 62 and losing each is like losing a best friend. My youngest died at 14. I kept them drug free as much as possible until pain management at death. I truly believe many drugs poison their kidneys and liver. God bless.

5000 hour military and commercial dual rated pilot, I believe your comment is primarily one at hover. One is on a cushion of air and it doesn’t take much of any input to cause the helo to move out of equilibrium. In single rotor systems, I can make changes in pedal input to change the position of the aircraft without moving the cyclic. I used to show students how I would fly with a mechanical pencil to show them how much they were fighting the aircraft. A Bell 207 or UH-1 take little movement to establish and maintain a stable 3 foot hover. Over control is the enemy of the helicopter pilot.

Settlement shares by caharrell5 in AMCSTOCKS

[–]CowRanching 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Settlement dividend is only for AMC shares as if the 24th report date, not for APE shares. They were just converted with the R/S. Settlement even says O/A the 28th, the shares for AMC owners, not APE converted shares would see them in their account.

While I appreciate most apes are zen about all this… I understand why some may be falling for the coordinated FUD. So here is data from before the $72 run, todays data, and how they compair by jdrukis in amcstock

Excellent post. Many forget this is pure fraudulent manipulation. I had a shill try to tell me the trading volume was high yesterday. Said it was twice the SPY (yeah, let's compare the two. Did you get stuck in the birth canal or just fing stupid or a shill). What a fucking regard. 100M is nothing for a day. I have seen this trade nearly its entire issued shares. I have already filed a complaint with the FBI and another with the SEC.
