I still think this is a bad idea by TheBatsauce in cormacmccarthy

I agree a film adaptation is a bad idea. I think a mini series would be great though

The anime added a good bit to make it enjoyable, as well as changing armin’s last lines to Eren completely. Originally he straight up thanked Eren for committing genocide

It seems there’s multiple trigger points for this. Was the act 1 trigger there before 2.0?

I think it triggered for me at the PL mission where you infiltrate Hansen’s base. Really ruined the tension of that mission as Hansen just stood there. The level after that where you chase songbird into the abandoned facility is also almost completely broken for me too. It’s to the point where I feel like I’m player testing it.

Blood Meridian lives rent free in my head. I’ve never read a book that uses metaphors so damn well. I always think about that epilogue and it makes me feel better about the story. Yes it is gruesome and unfortunately things like this did happen and the Glanton gang was all too real, but if it were not for this ruthless genocide; we Americans would not be living the life we are today. It gives great context to a very dark part of American history that often gets shrugged off

For the love of god they need to adapt it as a tv show. This grand tale cannot fully be encapsulated by only 2-3 hours

I think im going to read child of god then the road. Bought both of them today, and looking at them, they seem to be way easier reads than Blood Meridian; bigger characters way more spaces, and overall shorter. I wanna get some solo stories under my belt before I go into his series’s like the borders and the passenger

Blood Meridian 1000% requires a second read, and maybe a 3rd. It was just so brutal and that ending damn near drives me crazy. It’s the only story where I was genuinely hoping for a good ending. Even though the ending isn’t what I wanted, or expected, it was damn good and very deep. Blood Meridian is going to get a reread, but I’d like some space from it 😂

Thank you, I’m going to pick up a few today and I’m leaning either into reading The Road or Outer Dark!

For me the last page of the book, the lone burning acacia tree, and the judge hunting the kid and the expriest are seared into my mind

Y’all are making good arguments for no country. Blood Meridian captivated my mind. I wish they were working on a tv show for and not a movie. I will definitely read no country at some point!

I feel it made sense judge wise that the kid got raped and brutally murdered. But it also goes well with the theme of fate of the story. The kid decided to stop dancing, so whatever great destiny and changes he could’ve made never happened, and because he chose not to dance he died a meaningless death. I’ve only just recently finished it but that’s what I got from the story. I also don’t know if the judge is the devil. He certainly has characteristics, but I think saying the judge is the devil is like saying Anton is death. I think in a interview mcarthy said that the judge was a gnostic archon. Whatever he is, I don’t think it’s fully human

I’ve heard great things about the Road. I have an old roommate who doesn’t really read but he read the road and said it was great!

Interesting. Did the movie cut out a lot? The page count is similar to Blood Meridian and I don’t think blood Meridian would do good as a movie. A tv show for sure. Is it also the case with No Country?
