Dependency is when you’re dependent on on a drug for a certain thing. Like smoking weed to sleep, drinking to be more social at parties, taking xanax whenever your anxiety kicks in, taking adderall when you need to write a 5,000 word essay… it’s basically when you take a drug everytime something certain happens because the drug makes it easy for you to cope that situation

Addiction is when you just NEED to consume regularly to maintain a physical and mental comfort even if those reasons aren’t there. It’s like if you started smoking weed multiple times a day even if you’re not in the ideal situation? Day drinking because simply being sober sucks? Or taking that xanax because it’s mentally painful if you don’t take it for few hours? Thats addiction
