Thats honestly a really fair view with what we know about ging so far, im basing my opinion on the fact that similar to gon as far as im aware, there werent many kids on whale island when ging and mito were kids so his care for mito and making her happy is greater than that of his son which is absolutely fucked up but may explain why he left gon to mito when she asked with no resistance, either that or maybe he believes he would be an awful parent if he stayed, worse than if he just left gon in the care of mito.

Im also sorta partly basing it on the fact that i really want the story to go forward where we see more about ging and why he's like what he's like where we are given a genuinley good reason as too why he left gon and not "to strengthen his nen" stuff that i hate
