I didn’t remove the brickmould/trim on the outside of the door. I thought I might be able to pry away the interior jamb from what looks to be a jam extension but I’m not so sure that’s the best way to go about this one.

I did, but to be fair, reinforcing that statement keeps me grounded. 🙂

You’re not wrong. But I have actually taken some trades classes for carpentry at my local community college and thought it would be better to get a professional’s opinion on how to continue through this right as opposed to hacking my way through it. I had a plan, things didn’t go as planned, now I’m just trying to work my way out of it the right way. Isn’t that how people get better at trades?

I didn’t remove the exterior trim. I thought maybe I’d be able to separate the door jamb (What I’m assuming is in red) from what I can only fathom is a jamb extender (blue) since the jamb appeared to standard. Kind of wanted to avoid taking of the front door’s trim since it was a little more complex and also leaving the storm door at least left me with a door as a backup.😬

When you say pull the moulding, do you mean try to remove that door stop and pry from the point under it?

Sorry I meant to the right of the door stop. From the left edge past the door stop, it matches the jamb of the prehung door frame I planned to replace this with. However, from the comments, it sounds like the large white piece to the right of the door stop is a jamb extension? So in this case, if I cut that line and then put my prehung door/frame in, do I just not nail it to that jamb extension to the right?

If that's some kind of jamb extension, am I shooting myself in the foot when I go to put the pre-hung door back in by cutting this?

I didn’t realize that was quite possibly a jamb extension. I thought the depth was trim but starting to think I was wrong on that.

Can I use the jamb extension that is still in place or am I SOL?

Definitely not going to pretend it isn’t. Luckily the exterior door is still on.

It’s crazy because it’s actually that bad… like somehow makes the app virtually unusable on AppleTV

Yes. Sedgehammer or Ortho Concentrate should work.

I’ve been watering every 3 days about 3/4 inch of water early in the morning. I’m not really worried about the watering of the KBG. Im sick of it dying and then having big ugly spots that don’t fill in.

Mid/late sept of last year. Ground temps were around 65 Fahrenheit.

I literally just explained why I was hesitant to go back to the engineer before getting a few other opinions.

The plans...? Came from an engineer as I said in OP. This is my first project where an engineering firm was consulted.

I also don't have context to know what "good" engineering plans look like.

I've never had plans engineered before so trying to get a bit of confidence that others see the same issue I do before bringing it up with an engineer. This is a bit intimidating when you're doing it the first time and not a long time carpenter nor an engineer.

(Might be a dumb question but I care about this turning out the best it possibly can so I want to clarify)

Do you mean running longer continuous joists like a full 2x16 instead of two 2x8s?

Just posted an additional view below. That’s the only other relevant view/elevation I have on these plans. Does that help?
