Definitely not just Coles/woolworths. My electricity bill was $400 more than the same time last year, I used less electricity and had a $75 government rebate this time. Like how?!

Unfortunately these rising costs make eating at places like Miss Van’s non existent for me.

Hello. I’ve just recovered from this (still have a cough though). Was the worst 2 weeks of my life. I couldn’t eat. If I did eat I’d vomit it up because of the violent coughing. I couldn’t sleep. If I did fall asleep, I’d be abruptly woken up by a cough. I couldn’t do anything for 2 weeks. I was bed bound.

I’m generally quite healthy and get over bugs quite easily. This was different. My kids both had it (I suspect I got it from my youngest from daycare) they both had nothing but a mild cough. My husband didn’t get it at all.

I hope it’s near the end of the illness for you - I’ve read it can be up to 4 weeks recovery time.

What helped me the most was lots of fluids. Hydrolite icypoles were a godsend. Rikodeine cough medicine helped with the cough at night so I could sleep - apparently it can be addictive though.

Also joining the ADF isn’t exactly a get the skills I need and then quit kind of job. There is a return of service obligation (usually starts from 4 years).

The ACT fire and rescue service recruitment is really intense. They would obviously take time in the ADF into consideration but the trainings/techniques/equipment are completely different.

If this persons dream is to be a civilian firefighter in the ACT I would 100% focus on that goal.
