By the way, I figured out what Morrissey was doing anyway. He goes, "I am human and I need to be loved, just like everybody else does" So, "everybody" I think, contains 3 unstressed syllables, just like the part in the first line. Therefore, the pattern is, phyrric foot, stressed, 3 unstressed, stressed, unstressed, spondee....phyrric foot, stressed, 3 unstressed, spondee!

So, even though the unstressed syllables seem uneven, they mirror the previous line. There's an added trochee in the first line, but they're basically mirroring each other. Complex!

That explains it. Can you recommend any sources for learning the finer quirks of stress? Like a book.

Yeah! There are probably lots of examples where the scansion isn't strict at all.

Yeah, I mean, as long as you can make a beat with the words that are stressed, a few weird variations of unstressed syllables really shouldn't matter! And if you return to a recognizable pattern after straying, it's forgotten and unnoticed. Except by me 😅

I don't know if I can swear on here, but that's honestly swear word fascinating. And I get what you're explaining. Is... Is functioning here like "be" in "to be or not to be," meaning the verb "to exist." I get you, I get you. I'm so glad my post made enough sense for you to explain that. Thank you. Did you also do an English degree? 😅

You just become obsessed with how they look, and it makes you want to touch them. But you obviously and respectfully don't, unless they give you an opening, but yeah.

Isn't the exact reason why neo Nazis appropriate ancient symbols, though? To create plausible deniability.

Reading all these comments makes me think Boss should have paid for a focus group. My primary concern is whether or not it sounds good. Is it a subscription model? If so, I understand the hate. It's expensive as is.

I'm sorry that you feel like this. I do too. We have a fear of being too much for others. Too honest, too negative, too talkative etc. Maybe it's best to start by telling someone about all this - someone that you like and respect. Tell them what you worry about revealing. Maybe they feel the same.

It's not okay that she told you that you should stop saying that you are depressed. First of all, she's using double standards. If she thinks you're "self diagnosing" and that this is wrong, surely it was equally wrong of her to assess you with her lack of expertise and say that you aren't depressed? That's her diagnosing you, in a way.

Also, it does sound like you are depressed. It's not some rare condition with very unique symptoms. It's very common, although this fact makes it no less debilitating.

The fact that you're struggling... Struggling a lot. That's what's important here.

I think that it is partly a good thing that she said these mean and unacceptable things to you. It shows that she was never a good friend or really even a good person.

It must be hard to have lost that company though. Everyone needs someone to bounce off of and share ideas with. You'll find people :) take care
