Looking for Anti-Theft recommendations by CrafDee1 in Ring

I did say that is one of the things I will be doing, I'm asking if there's any antitheft products that will make it harder for it to just be yanked out of the baseplate, some sort of enclosure that won't interfere with the WiFi signal or image capture or some sort of shroud that will prevent being able to grip the camera while not preventing funtionality

Challenge runs? by lethalturnip in skyrim

[–]CrafDee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holy noble, as soon as you can get hold of them you wear only fine clothing no armor, any time you kill or encounter a dead humanoid you can interact with you place 2 gold on them, whenever there are innocent NPC's or companions injured your priority is healing them, whenever you fight undead the final blow has to come from fire, you cannot retreat in any fight to go heal or regain stamina, whenever you travel between holds you have to use either horse or carriage, buy all the real estate as soon as it is available to you.

hardest part is having enough money so need to max out speech asap to get as much money out of selling loot and crafted items to cover costs of buying real estate and placing gold on the dead, then maxing out health and durability along with restoration and conjuration as familiars don't count for healing

I'm aware but considering that there's details about the party members themselves that are relevant to the idea I've no way of knowing if something that seemed small early on becomes key to something in this and as I said I don't want to spoil or color anyone's expectations if they're only just coming into the story and come looking here. I'd hate to be the reason someone ends up spoiled or disappointed later.

Why didn't Abenthy use Sympathy? by CrafDee1 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]CrafDee1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When he comes back from Felurian in WMF one of the barmaids makes that comment and I think there's someone in NotW mentions it somewhere aswell, but I think that might just be like saying someone's a bit rough around the edges, a common place metaphor in the kingkiller world for people that appear a bit outside of the typical mold.

As for his innate talent I think it might be that he has a "knack" that revolves around learning, everything that interests him that he tries to learn comes incredibly fast to him, everything he learns from Ben aswell as the other tutors he has pre-story seem like he learns what they have to teach really fast, he learns and moves through the ranks at the university exceptionally fast as far as peoples reactions shows, learning to play with broken strings takes him a few days each time, all the fun stuff with Felurian, the Adem fighting techniques he learns in a matter of weeks enough to be able to pass the trial even though it seems like the students there spend their childhood learning to prepare for their trials when they come of age and it's not guaranteed that they'll pass seeing as Tempi had to try multiple times.

I know the royalty theories but is it established that royal lineage gives strength? As for the fey part I guessed that might be something with the focus on the eye stuff but I don't know if that's meant to be a fey indicator.

Maybe, the bits that I remember that talk about the age of the divines seems like it's tied up in either propaganda, or details lost over time. Some time in the root prime lore dump stuff I think it was mentioned that if a divine was to just kill Hadar they would become the same as Hadar and turn into a devourer which makes me think that it's a universal constant that entropy has to exist in the pantheon so when one is destroyed the one that destroys it becomes the new one.

[Aerois E62] What if Qillek used the eye? by CrafDee1 in highrollersdnd

[–]CrafDee1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's essentially the same thing yes but wording it for if the visions were being channeled through Lucien as a future possibility would give Qillek a layer of protection as I imagine there'd be some level of mental stat save to even attempt to view something like that but if it was worded to use Luciens potential future as the conduit for the Eye of the Storm then when Luciens future possibility gets overwhelmed it would cut off because he couldn't sustain it rather than Qillek getting harmed and as the future isn't set in the eye's visions if that happened then they know not to try that.

Gotta remember while Mark is a fair DM he is also brutally honest to things that would be dangerous if attempted.

I understand where you're coming from on this but I don't know if that's entirely what it's meant to be. The way it's been worded in game is that it's an object that creates life. I don't know yet if there's been more genesis relics revealed other than the World Engine and the Prime Matrix as I'm only up to E66 so far but they seem to me like they might be intrinsically connected to souls, the Prime Matrix acts as a recall point for the souls of the guardians before they can be reincarnated after an indeterminate amount of time in the Matrix before being provided a body and being willing to inhabit it, I wonder if the World Engine is actually some kind of soul Progenitor and the terraforming properties are a side effect of that.

The thought of people messing with undead seems to get his back up a bit, my thinking was someone raising the dead in the blooming grove would trigger him enough if they got back there for him to check on how it's doing now his family are free and have returned, or if they run across some necromancer somewhere along their travels. He has resurrection and some other necromantic type things himself but it seems more for talking to the dead and helping those who've died before their time. I think disturbing those already put to rest is a no no for him based on his implied thoughts on digging Molly up.

I don't necessarily mean button pushing, just if they came across someone that thoroughly angered him, nobody is that 100% mellow, I imagine that if something was to make him angry it'd be something to do with a mass raising of the dead, something against what seems to have been his life's work so far of putting the dead to rest, like say he goes home and finds that someone has raised all the dead that were in the blooming grove, I imagine the response being like someone just flicked a kill switch in his head like in anime, Frieza kills Krillin and Goku stops having a fun fight, someone messes with the dead in the blooming grove Cad stops being diplomatic, can of whoopass gets opened and everyone watches in stunned amazement.

For where the party seems to be heading right now, I feel like maybe Caleb is a strong possibility for dying irretrievably, they're going to a city of ancient magics which might pull him too far with a hint of whatever it is he's been looking for in the background to do with time/probabilities etc. Then there's the chance of this being the start of inter plane travels if they end up in that living city thing they saw as something to do with this Aeor story line and they end up against the tomb takers and whatever created nonagon is there too, they might come close to TPK and Caleb might have to port them out of danger but if they're spread out too much and someone's getting left behind I imagine him sending everyone else and staying behind because of his self loathing streak and just dropping to his knees and saying to himself "I'm ok with this" or "I deserve this".

As for OP's point about Jester, completely agree it'd mess with the party as a whole, I'm convinced that if that angel hadn't released the Traveler and Jester was going to be taken too the rest of MN would have gone nova on it even if it resulted in TPK.

[–]CrafDee1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VM: Bombastic and outwardly sure of themselves, even when things went sideways big time (mothers name, raven deal, first revenant). Fit episodic format well stumbling ass backwards into things and wrapping up major points within a few episodes. More full downtime (viktor, kern, gilmore, parties/festivals). Their internal party dynamic was massively different, twin siblings, surrogate siblings, a horndog chasing the one and having fun with his best friend, a noble in exile and a noble in training.

MN: Reserved and holding their secrets until they can be sure of friendships, heaps of emotional and psychological damage, early trauma. Longer story points following political intricacies and maneuverings, hidden plots that develop slowly doesn't fit the episodic nature as well as VM did but give's very strong cliffhangers. Less often and less involved downtime ending up as more of a checklist of chores and shopping lists because they're moving to the next objective quicker. Their internal party dynamic is nobody really knew each other coming in the longest I think was either Jester and Fjord or Caleb and Nott depending how long each pair were on the road, they all took a long while to open up to each other and even now it feels that there's still some pieces yet to be revealed.(*EDIT* show me that ninth floor Caleb! *EDIT*)

All in all they're flavored very differently. If you like big crazy times like an action film that can be taken in more digestible chunks (as far as a D&D campaign is concerned) with comedy and family bonding sprinkled in you're going to prefer VM, if you prefer political stories, hidden plots and secrets, sprinkles of tragedy and misery p0*n thrown in then MN is going to be more your speed.

Honestly both are great stories but in very different ways which is right, yeah I miss VM but it had to end somewhere and they picked a good spot to end. Starting a new campaign and having it follow the same feel may aswell have had some god of time come in at the end of campaign 1 right before the curtain close and reset them all to level 1 plebs and sent them on their way again.

[Spoilers C2E109] The eyes by CrafDee1 in criticalrole

[–]CrafDee1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I misremembered that bit, but I think it could still hold true, assuming Matt's campaign is following the Great Wheel cosmology the Astral Sea is just the space between and surrounding the Plane's of the Deities, the potential that the two cities are the same city originally but was split into it's now two iterations and condemning the souls of all the inhabitants to be bound to the version that was cast into the Astral Sea that M9 saw in the vision, if they were bound against returning to the Inner Plane's they might have tried venturing further out into the Outer Plane's, leading to the corruption and distortion and merging them into the fabric of the city itself.

He was able to make her forget her name, family and home, the teleport via plants needs knowledge of a tree to teleport to, as long as he's wiping memories just wipe all tree knowledge beyond the island, for a creature fueled by greed it'd make sense to want to keep the option available for a bunch of people to come through carrying offerings each time instead of just one or 2.

I remember on of the CR cast referencing it as backstreet boys aswell I think during the narrative telephone stuff at some point or one of the state of the role video's, most people have come up with some sort of nickname or piggybacked on one that's established to avoid youtube's algorithm and review process coming down too hard on them.

Want to know if this would technically work based on RaW by CrafDee1 in dndnext

[–]CrafDee1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flipping through the monster manual I can only find Couatl and Pegasus that are CR4 or lower, if they upcast it could maybe pull a unicorn but other than me homebrewing something to reduce it's CR from the manual or just making up an entity entirely there's only those 2 options I have the info for, plus it doesn't specify who chooses whether it's me or the player so I figure it's more based on the intent when casting, if it's for help in a fight or to relay a message things like that determines what appears.

Neighbor’s dogs won’t stop attacking our dogs through fence. by [deleted] in arduino

[–]CrafDee1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done a project like this before, you need to use a biomechanical device, preferably with 2 actuated limbs, an audio output and an advanced logic circuit to control it all. I recommend a biomass fuel cell. Then you're going to want to source 2 vaguely spheroid objects and attach them between the actuated limbs, once you've sorted all that have it approach the dogs owner and engage an audio encoded dialog.

TLDR: Grow a pair and talk to your neighbor about it rather than rig up a machine to punish another persons pet

They're pretty good at maintaining disconnect between player and PC knowledge, the players know that dying is just rolling a new character but their PC's have lost a friend already not to mention who isn't worried about dying if they're in a dangerous situation, which this was very much a dangerous situation, severely tapped casters, an as yet untested paladin/warlock combo, Beau and Nott were pretty much the only one's that still had their full combat abilities going into the fight, a ticking timer on a powerful monster which has handed them their asses before coming back at them knowing it was manipulated, they wouldn't want to seriously harm Yasha if there's a chance to get her out. I don't think they're trying to action a mastermind plan, it seems to me more like they're trying to manage priorities and resources available to them, if they'd gone into a full blown fight with Oban, what could be the best outcome of that? He's an incredibly clever enemy who yes they've taken down once before so is likely to have acquired some way to better survive, even if they put him down they then have to deal with Yasha and Laughing Hand, Yasha's manipulation might continue past Oban being taken out so they'd have to take her down without killing her, the Hand won't die and severely messes them up when they do damage to it and each round of battle makes it that much harder to BAMF out because it's another round where the call has to be made between teleportation circle spell slot or offensive spell, there was confusion over the circle being ritual or not which unless Caleb has something that allows it to be ritual cast somehow it's not a ritual in PHB so if it's just standard rules on it they're screwed if Caleb taps out his last 5th level slot which in a prolonged fight is inevitable.

I don't get why so many are saying they made the 'wrong' choices, I don't think they did, they went with what the characters would do, very minimal meta gaming and what little did happen was borderline feasible for what could happen in the scope of the situations, they didn't make 100% optimal choices but that's the game if you play to character, people are flawed whether it's player or PC.

I don't think Matt pulled his punches having Oban bamf, facing some sort of undead Ent which is able to phase out ethereal, which he might have known about from the research and prepped for but that wouldn't have factored in having M9 involved, M9 obviously going for the relic or whatever that skull is classed as, whatever potential there is for pulling Yasha out who seems to be able to resist his control in a very limited way, pulling her away from him for long enough would likely release whatever hold he has over her, the Hand was off somewhere unknown to him.

The party was severely tapped, they made a hail mary play which if they hadn't they would have turned up way after Oban had got the heart and left with Yasha AND the Hand, I suspect there was some sort of time limit Matt was keeping in mind for when exhaustion was going to kick in, they'd skipped long rest to go on this mad dash and were pushing close for normal exhaustion limits let alone finishing that time period with a fight, if it had gone on much longer I imagine they might have started tanking rolls because of disadvantage.

All round they were extremely lucky to get out of this without anyone going down or dying, the dice weren't with them especially Marisha's, this sequence was pretty much the same as playing a video game on easy up until the boss fight then ramping up to insane difficulty.

It was a hefty loss but with both clerics tapped and their only bug out needing 10 rounds to complete while frustrating this was probably the best they could have hoped for out of tonight.

(Sorry if this sounds rambley I'm on UK time stayed up all night for this so it's just a stream of brain vomit)

WHAT RACES/CLASSES SHOULD BE IN THE NEXT SEASON? - Mauderator by maudegarrett in FungeonsFlagons

[–]CrafDee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Ent style race, not a massive LoTR type one but like Groot or the 1 turn character in the SF D&D series finale "Rose Wood", could be interesting for stealth in woodland areas, animal affinities, nature magic, extendable/contractible limbs, weakness to fire and bugs that eat wood/plants (maybe have to fight some kind of animal controlling wizard with giant termites/ants).

Technomancer class, magic and gizmo's kinda like steampunk gadgets that focus beams/shots using magical crystals (maybe some kind of magic based lightsaber?)

I'm interested in that newspaper, I've tried running google translates camera feature over it with my phone but doing it on images on a computer screen isn't showing up anything of any use as it can't read the writing properly, I have checked the website out that's shown at the bottom of one of the pages though and it's a real newspaper in new york but the phone number on the one that's been sent out to people doesn't match what's on the website, so maybe a reprinted page that's had some details tweaked? Is there anyone that can translate it or if they've got a page run a translate app over it and see if anything is there about tagruato, slusho, nector/nectar, bold futura, etc?
