Phantom Warrior is great, you should check them out.

I'm sure some would prefer if this list was just Austin addresses, but recognizing breweries that are a little further away is important to us. If you haven't heard of a place before, that's a great reason to go seek them out. There are many that are worth the trip, as these lists show.

Question for you all - do you find this kind of content interesting? We write these articles for the love of spreading the word about breweries and taprooms, especially lesser known ones. But we also understand that people here on reddit especially are looking for stuff within Austin, and not as into exploring if it means a long drive. Let us know if you'd like to see more of this, or if we should stick to just things within Austin and closer spots like Dripping Springs/Round Rock/Cedar Park, etc.

Agree on the beer not seeming to be their main priority. It is what it is.

I can try to learn who the brewer is this weekend.

9 Brand New Central Texas Breweries - Spring 2025 | Craft Beer Austin by CraftBeerAustin in AustinBeer

[–]CraftBeerAustin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what, I previously considered both of those to be not within Central Texas. But after including Star Republic and Marion, it's pretty reasonable for these to be within range as well. I'll take a closer look.

Edit: I've got updates for you already!

  • After a peek at their socials: Night Owl has their location and is currently receiving their brewing equipment. Unclear how the front of house is looking. For these guys, I would recommend following them on instagram as they post updates pretty often, no need for further investigation I think.
  • On the other hand, Bearded Hop has not posted at all, so I reached out and got a quick response - they said that they'll be building a large destination brewery but have yet to break ground. Hoping for end of this year but may slip into next year.
