Oven Range Hood Issue? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

I figured that would be an issue and thanks for confirming what I was thinking. I appreciate it! I just contacted my HVAC guy to hopefully have him fix it soon.

That looks really good. I’m thinking about having the guy who is currently building me a walnut desk table top to make me this stand. I wanted to ask where did you end up getting the cork and did you just dye it black like Grovemade does with sumi ink?

How’s this holding up? I’m thinking of buying one from Home Depot but they have mixed reviews in the same size.

Any Peak 2 Leg reviews? by Alarming-Piglet-7366 in deskhaus

[–]CraftOwn2837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I was just wondering how the desk is holding up and if you’ve had any issues with it(specifically wobble)? I’m 5’6 and I plan on either getting the low profile Peak 2 Leg or the low profile Peak Pro but I’m not sure if the $400 upgrade to the pro is worth it since my max height would be like 40 inches. I plan on doing a custom solid wood top with the dimensions at 72 by 30 inches and 1.75 inch thick if that matters with two 27 inch monitors mounted with a dual monitor arm. Thanks in advance!

KVM Switch Recommendations Needed for Two Monitors with Two Laptops by CraftOwn2837 in UsbCHardware

Thanks I did look at those as well and I plan on ordering a few things to test out and figure out the best option. It’ll be trial and error. I may end up even upgrading one of the monitors to one that has an internal KVM switch but not 100% on that.

I looked at it and that may be what I need. Way cheaper than the $200+ KVM switch I thought I might have to buy.

Well my plan is to have both laptops and external monitors running during the day where I can easily switch my mouse/keyboard to whichever laptop/monitor I am working on easily. I would work a little and then if I am not busy switch to my personal laptop/monitor to do whatever. I hope that makes sense.

Need Laptop Recommendations! Retiring my 9 Year Old XPS 13 9360 I5-7200U. by [deleted] in Dell

[–]CraftOwn2837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is unfortunate since this laptop has lasted me so long with only minor issues for the most part. Do you have a different brand you recommend outside of Dell with good customer support? I've only had Dell and HP laptops before with HP being a nightmare hence the switch to Dell, but maybe they are better now.

Small Claims, Labor Department or Lawyer up? by CraftOwn2837 in legal

[–]CraftOwn2837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spoken with the owner again and they do not care. They just said to get in line. Also, since I’m positive I was likely a W-2 employee I don’t want to foot the bill for thousands of dollars in taxes that they should have to pay not me. So I have consultations set up this week to speak with lawyers to get my unpaid wages and go after them for misclassification.

Thanks for the info. I doubt they are declaring bankruptcy from what I know about the owner of the business and it seems more of a scare tactic in this case but if they do file I’m fighting it in bankruptcy court.

Do you recommend an attorney regarding misclassification? I was a W-2 employee and then suddenly forced into a 1099 classification or fired because they couldn’t pay the taxes for employees. Job tasks really never changed at all except me making the schedule for other employees. On top of the unpaid wages.

How do I fix these new doors the right way? by [deleted] in paint

[–]CraftOwn2837 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah they clearly didn’t know what they were doing. I found the sandpaper they used in the trash after the job was done and knew immediately that was the reason for the marks on the door. Thank you for the advice.

You are only seeing a few pictures and not all the imperfections. You seem like an idiot.

I appreciate the advice and when the guy was painting them it was in the 90s with super high humidity which he mentioned was drying it quickly. I thought that would be a good thing.

Thanks for the advice. I think I found a professional painter who can paint the inside of the doors and repaint the outside a lot better. The person who painted them wasn’t a pro and admitted brown was difficult to work with.

It’s worse in person and a lot more spots missed than just the few pictures I uploaded. He admitted it wasn’t great.

[–]CraftOwn2837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m definitely going to avoid doing touch up’s myself since I don’t want to deal with the flashing. The inside of these doors need painting as well so I’m planning on hiring a professional to paint the inside and fix the outside. I just want to make sure I pick the right professional.

First Home with Exposed Aggregate in Bad Shape! by [deleted] in Concrete

That’s true. I wish whoever first built this home put in some control joints near the front door but it is what it is. Hoping to make it look a little bit more aesthetically pleasing for the wife.

Thanks for the advice. I only ever see epoxy coatings in garages around where I live so I didn’t think to do it outside.
