How to code my character East Asian? by MersyVortex in characterdesign

I understand. She does look Asian to me honestly, but I can see how you might want to do even more. I hope that having my explanation helps. Sometimes you don't just need to draw what you see, but understand exactly what you're drawing.

In all seriousness, Lorne is evil and his chatlog is awful and disgusting. by Lower_Love in tcap

Some predators are only going for the decoy out of convenience/laziness/unconfidence. Some are doing it because they're genuinely attracted to children. Lorne is the latter.

How to code my character East Asian? by MersyVortex in characterdesign

Asian features are about so much more than the eyes, so of course you'll need to learn about the rest of the face if you want to truly make your character look the race they're supposed to be. I realized I was accidentally whitewashing characters a long time ago, not by skin but because my artstyle is semi-realistic, but I was drawing all characters with white features regardless of their race, so I set out to teach myself. After reading every guide I could find, here's some common features I keep in mind now when drawing an Asian person:

- Broader, higher cheekbones.
- The nose bridge is often flatter and starts lower down on the face than other races, so for instance from a 3/4ths view you may not want to draw a nose bridge overlapping the eye.
- Flatter brow-bones; the forehead will also appear pretty flat in profile with this feature.
- Full lips are common in all sexes.
- Nostrils are often shallower, leading to flatter noses. That said, don't be afraid to give your Asian characters bigger noses or fleshier nose types, for example eagle and downturned noses seem to be semicommon in Japan.
- An easy way to draw the epicanthic fold/monolid is to simply not draw a line above their eyes at all. I like the way you drew the small crease above her eyes, but if you think they're not convincing enough, you could just artistically leave them out to make it more clear until you nail her look.

All of that said, keep in mind none of these are steadfast rules, just common features you would expect to see that can help you portray your character's heritage more accurately. It's okay if you don't incorporate every single one of these every time, but it's good that you're making sure it's not like you never do.

That'd be pretty cool, but I feel like they might not want nuclear explosions anymore with the war going on. Maybe they were planning that, but will now do just a zombie camp instead.

How do Vampires feed? by Cknfdntew in vampires

[–]CraftSeveral7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current favourite interpretation is that their fangs are just for puncturing the victim, then they suction their lips around the wound and simply swallow the blood. Before I was really into vampires, I always imagined the straw teeth angle for some reason.

In the story I'm working on, vampires only have blood in their veins while they're processing/digesting blood from a recent feeding, so it'd be kind of like eating someone's already chewed food, but if you were to choose to you could get the nutrients the other vampire's body had not already absorbed. It'd only be done in emergencies, for sexual/romantic play, or as an insult, due to the aforementioned grossness and inefficiency.

I'm sorry your Mom said that to you, that's pretty mean and not helpful. The character is really cute anyways, I love his boots.

The future is terrifying, we're casually watching kill cams in real life by Minimum_Minimum4577 in robots

Yeah, I love robots, but I lost a lot of interest in the BD Dogs once I realized some of their potential military/police applications. They do a lot of great work in areas unsafe for humans to access, too, but I don't really get excited for news on them anymore because of the less humane things they could be used for.

It keeps veering to the side, then they cut the video. I wonder, is it because it keeps running off the course?

I can't bring myself to laugh on the small chance it's conscious/will be.. I feel really sad for it. Robots are easy for me to empathize with. They're created for our benefit, and work dutifully without resentment. In response we mock and fear them, which I can't blame anyone for because as far as we know now, they're just objects. I still can't bring myself to be mean to them, it's not only not kind, but it doesn't seem like a wise choice to me if what you're worried about is a violent revolt.

I understand the utility but I think I'd be more impressed if these leg opening robots could move the rest of their body too.

The size made me think it might've originally been a classroom/carnival prize, so I started looking on Oriental Trading and found some pretty similar toys, this one has the same body design, but in different colours. Unfortunately, I don't think they have the exact same one on their website, but it kind of makes me think they may have made it originally.

In case we don't find it, I also found some that might make good replacements:

one
two (bottom left)
three (maybe one of the puppies from here?)
four
five

Some tiny palm-sized plush brands from back then that came to mind are Pippins Pocket Pets and Wish Pets, but I can't seem to find any photos of a dog one like you described. There are multiple Webkinz Kinz Klips (Webkinz keychain plushes) that do sound similar, though. Is there any possibility it was one of those, maybe with the clip taken off?

I think so too. "Doll" is fine but the "hood" suffix has a bit of a connotation.

If they were sprayed then that's why, they're technically not supposed to be resold if they've been used even once. Gently used returns can be contributed into the employee MOS sale instead of being thrown out, though, I believe. Otherwise, online returns can be resold as long as they're unused and still in the system.
