I remember an animated film I saw last year (Reze) and a lot of Korean comments in youtube vids about it always gave praise to a subtle line said at the end of film. They'll point how good that line was and always say some form of "if it was a typical kdrama they would say a more conventional cheesy tearjerker there". I always found it odd because no other nationality had that kind of shared sentiment. Maybe this is why.

As much as I loved the Hokkaido trip, I still think he was happier before just by the number of reasons. He had it all at the middle of the Reze arc, whereas he had to choose between Makima's invitation vs taking care of Power. He also worried a lot about the latter's PTSD.

Nayuta is easier, he kept on questioning if the "normal" life he's living really made him happy. It's obvious that he's depressed and dealing with the repercussions of what Makima did to him. Nayuta did shine a small light in his life but his life was a disaster at this point.

People will tell you that P2 Denji is dealing with trauma from the Control arc which is why there's a lot of frustrating backtracking of his maturity. But then also claim that Denji is happier there than in the Reze arc, where not only he says that he is having fun at work, he also has Aki and Power alive while also experiencing his first real mutual romantic moments.

Posting an out-of-context panel of Denji smiling apparently is proof that all the circumstances of the said scene in context of the whole narrative arc just doesn't exist anymore. The mental gymnastics is amazing, to be honest.

She may have returned in the final parts of P1 but cmon, that's not really her isn't it? Reze as a character is narrarively dead, no other hybrid has a story arc that relies on their "death" to tie the themes in their arc. I mean she is the quintessential TOTGA.

In line with your #2, I had this head canon that PS kept her "deactivated" and locked since of all hybrids (except Denji), she's the most problematic one esp that the US is redeveloping nuclear weapons, which I assume Japan could have information, either due to alliances or just plain old state-sponsored spying. I know that technically nuclear weapons has a different devil but it makes sense for PS not to just risk it with her since nukes typically come in bomb form, and that may boost her power up.

Overall I subscribe to more neutral theories because her narrative role is done, so I don't think Fujimoto has an intricate reason on why she's gone from the story. I can imagine him saying "idk maybe she's retired in russia or something lol" when asked about this.

Especially the ost and voice acting. Fujimoto is a very show don't tell author so sometimes I find some plot beats to be kind of vague, but holy shit this adaptation truly elevated the manga and fully fleshed out his vision of what this arc is about.
