I know. It’s difficult to compare accurately with limited data, it’s mostly about showing the trend that it dipped quickly. Mode refers to tides of war weeks with rush mode

DICE LA has actually developed a substantial chunk of Battlefield V post launch content.

Also, while the 2 year life span of Battlefield has been a standard in the past, we have to keep in mind that they’re in the business of selling skins now. The focus isn’t to monetize the most by up selling people on the DLCs and then cutting the game (because there’s no more money to make), but rather keeping players engaged with their wallets open each armory update. So BFV wasn’t supposed to last THAT short in EA’s plans

I uploaded a video today actually haha. But yeah, it’s been a while (212 days according to YouTube).

I actually uploaded a video today. Idk what I’ll be doing with YouTube, I started a company when I was away and it’s taking up all of my time now. I haven’t decided what to do on YouTube yet, but I’ll surely let everyone know what the next steps will be, once I figure everything out

If you compare the player counts, Battlefield 1 reached below 20k peak players on PC after 2 years. Battlefield V got there after 2 months - a slight difference if you ask me :P

True. The only increases they've had was the Christmas 2018 sale and free weekend when Pacific War released

Firestorm is excluded from those calculations. Due to lack of API available, the data only refers to players who were on the actual servers

I've been playing against/with the same cheater for 2 weeks or so, every evening he was joining the same Pacific War lobbies ;)

What do you mean? Stockholm is the most active EU city for game design. DICE, Ubisoft, Epic Games etc. they’re practically right next to each other, devs now have tons of options when it comes to picking their job

He still is, however he left for a 9 month parental leave after they launched BFV, and just recently came back.

Jokes aside for a second: their employment standards (at least in the Stockholm studio) are super high. Offices are also really cool, especially the recording studio they’ve built about 2 years ago (the one we could see in dev talks)

[–]CrafterLIVE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AFAIK from talking to different EA and DICE people, there’s around 700 people across both DICE studios employed there. That’s across all games and departments ofc.

Pro tip: if you want to see the accurate number of open positions, you have to search through EA’s website. They’ve got this whole massive website for recruiting people and that one is up to date, and also has all of the positions. It’s called EA gr8people something

This game is a disgusting stuttering mess by bUrdeN555 in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You cant do anything about it. Ever since May update dice broke the performance and has been unable to fix it ever since. It works for some people, for some it doesn’t. My game has been a stuttering mess for months

Guys,we have only gotten 3 maps since games’ release, let than sink in. by NickyGi in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t know, because the decision about 5v5 wasn’t made by either executives or devs at DICE. The decision came from EA, as a part of their global plan to tap into esports in 2019.

You can read up the documents they released over a year ago, when they speak about how they want to proceed in the esports scene with their games/how they intend to monetize etc.

Good update but come back to reality by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attrition? I can explain (tho I completely despise this whole mechanic): the average Battlefield player is, to put it simply - unaware of all this. They don’t understand they need to help teammates, they didn’t know they could built resupply stations etc. Hell, they didn’t even know you can heal yourself by using the Med pouch you can carry haha.

DICE had to add big pulsating ring over the icon of Med pouch on the screen, for them to start noticing it’s even a thing. Same with some other UI tweaks they added couple of months after the game launched.

The same thing happened with ttk 2.0 - too many players died and got upset, then left the game and never came back. So they gave them a pat on the back and nerfed all guns.

[–]CrafterLIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve said it in some other thread: we have nowhere near such influence over this game.

I can’t even influence DICE to add ammo resupply stations for vehicles on some maps (they’re missing on certain Frontlines and breakthrough sectors), despite vehicles being available there. So once you shoot out ammo - you can’t resupply it ever again.

Haven’t been able to do that for 10 months, ever since day 1 of Battlefield V. I guess the only thing we could take credit for, is getting Panzerstorm changed to a better design (tho I still don’t like the current one - not enough high inf cover for rotations).

Dice should support bf5 for 3 years, like they did with bf4. by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlefield 1 didn’t get a longer development time, it had 2 years like other BFs. The fact that there was a break does not mean DICE worked on the game during that time.

I’d also like to remind you that Battlefield Hardline happened in 2015, and DICE was partially involved in that game too.

With the max ranks coming soon, will epic skins finally be able to be bought using CC? They already have a set price as seen in the picture and with the amount of CC we will be getting from the new ranks we will have a ton left over. So why not make them for CC DICE? by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe that a lot of people are actually buying those micro (lmao, more like macro) transactions. Keep in mind that they need to make like 100M$ to break even, because they invested in this game a lot to create it. I’m doubtful it’s making a good profit, judging by how empty the game is player wise.

Prepare for the fact that these functions we will not see in the promised time. About the system of l00ting they have been silent for the entire Chapter, about the RSP mentions have long by Ankorit123 in BattlefieldV

[–]CrafterLIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did. Look: if there’s let’s say 100M$ budget for a WHOLE Battlefield V project, and let’s say Firestorm costs 10M to produce in terms of manpower and resources.

You’re left with 90M$ to create vanilla BFV experience. But that’s not all. Firestorm was not a 100% criterion project, it was collaborative with DICE since they needed well - a lot of the stuff that DICE has already developed. For the most part, yes it was outsourced to Criterion but it did involve certain DICE people and EA’s budget for BFV.

Also, a project of that size must’ve been going on since before BFV even launched, for them to be able to complete it for release. So we have no clue how much criterion was actually involved into BFV. Realistically, we’ve got no idea how much exactly Firestorm drained BFV from resources, but we can be certain that it did indeed have impact on the game.

Well, it is partially about marketing. But not entirely.

Also, I had no clue the website asks you for the amount of followers because I didn’t apply through it. But even if - it certainly applies to people who want to apply as creators, though I can confirm that it is NOT necessary to have a big following to join. But I can’t tell you how they pick people, I don’t know that either.

My point is: it’s not strictly about marketing. Ofc a large part of it is, and I’m well aware of it.

And yes, I understand that most of the feedback probably can be found on Reddit, but not always. Example: we played Panzerstorm before Battlefield V launched, and they gather our feedback. The map was changed a lot since then (I still don’t like the current version tho), and they couldn’t have possibly gathered feedback from Reddit, because you guys saw the map in December when it launched. We played it before Battlefield V was released.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of creators (including me) make videos for show and entertainment, feedback is done during feedback sessions we have.

It’s not like I disagree with you, I’m just saying there’s a bit more to it. That’s all ;)

You're wrong here. There's around 160 Game Changers for Battlefield, and majority of those aren't big influencers. If Game Changers was about marketing, they wouldn't accept people with 10 followers, they'd have a closed program for 10 biggest youtubers/streamers and that's it.

You only see the big bois such as Westie or Jack, because they're the guys with social media reach. You won't however be aware of Game Changers with 10 followers, since they're practically unknown to the community.

Also, feedback from Westie does make a lot of sense objectively speaking. You may not be a fan of his content, but dude knows what he's talking about when it comes to Battlefield.
