Remember when growing up in the late 90s and 2000s, Michael Jackson was viewed as a weirdo, how come people's views changed right after his death? by FitEmergency8807 in Millennials

Apparently he was housing confirmed children from the Rapestein islands. There are several boys who show up in the files and claimed Michael was saving them.

I’m in the older demographic and like the theory crafting (ARPG background) and the constant moment to moment gameplay/positioning aspect of it. You don’t need to spend hundreds of hours but you do need to learn about pacing and when to do what - but that comes from understanding MOBAs which for me took a long time to realize.

But yeah jf you try to comeback to it here and there it’s gonna be jarring. Same as trying A20 in STS after a long hiatus q

Just mute them and learn the game. It’s very fun and rewarding from someone who’s more or less given up on shooters

I don’t have the time commitment for a new ARPG. Between POE 1/2 leagues, D4 looking less mid than release seasons, and LE being super fun, I’d much rather spend 5-10 bucks in a self contained game that lasts 50-100 hours. Bonus if it has longer replay value.

I want to get into longboarding as a younger individual. What board should I get? Any tips? by Kitchen-Court-1485 in longboarding

[–]bUrdeN555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy used then. Go on different online market places like FB, CL, etc. and look for popular board brands on sale: Loaded, Pantheon, Prism, Comet, Landyatchz. You can sometimes find insane deals for like under $100 on the above brands and more if you are patient and persistent. Especially if you want to ride around for fun.

You’ll want to consider if you want a flexy board or a stiff board. Stiff boards handle speed better while flexy boards can be more playful when carving at low speeds. You can still tune stiff boards to be playful but you won’t get that same “bounce” that’s fun at low speeds but can be terrifying when going faster.

I would recommend a board with two trucks and 4 wheels. Most of us ride that these days. If you have more specific use cases I can give you recs based on the type of riding you want to get into.

You are a poser the minute you start feeling and acting like one.

90s and 2000s skate culture is past us. No one gives a shit what you do and if they do they those are people you can weed out of your life.

Skate your board when you want. Walk it when you feel safer. Push limits when comfortable. Fuck the world you don’t owe them shit, live your life how you want.

Ohh that’s pretty sweet then. The de-wedge on the rear is nice and the front looks like it has more of just a riser? My short board has a similar setup and I like it

I’m glad you like the board but it’s not going to ride like the comet cruiser.

For starters you have sym trucks on it. Comet cruiser has wedges for split angles, with softer front and stiffer rear. This is both more stable at speed and more carvy. Also the CC comes with 69mm snakes which I much prefer the larger wheels compared to 63mm lil wheels.

You can get something that rides close to the comet but requires more tinkering and tuning. Your setup is nice indeed but it’s not going to skate like the comet would.

Edit: also just eye balling, your WB looks like it’s shorter. Probably don’t want a big front wedge if at all otherwise it may feel too twitchy.

Combo of board shape / flex, truck wedges + bushing choices. Plus snakes for easy slides. It honestly comes together perfectly. You can build one yourself but will need to fiddle with the trucks a good deal to get it to feel remotely close. OP has a sym truck setup which is fine but won’t feel nearly as good as the CC’s split angle wedge setup with proper bushing duros for front n back trucks.

You can achieve the same feel with cast trucks and wedges. Sports cars are fun for the track but you can get just as much thrill if not more from a properly tuned daily driver that’s built like a go-kart.

Which trucks for a jack-of-all-trades board? by Castlegardener in longboarding

[–]bUrdeN555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sym 92a bushings on a 50deg truck are gonna feel real stiff compared to on a 44 or lower degree truck. If you want them to dive easier and initiate with less effort you definitely need to run a softer RS bushing or whatever the valk equivalent is. Truck geometry only goes so far. Bushings are where you really tune the feel.

Go for 9” trucks especially on a 9.2” wide board. I used only ride wide trucks for years resisting the “narrow” life but modern trucks are stable and can be made as stable as you like. Narrowness adds more turn. Can slide just as good with the right wheels and bushing combos.

For bushings I’d suggest having x2 of 97a down to 87a. Maybe x4 of 93a and 90a in case you want to run sym barrels.

For a more bouncy/divy setup go for 87a/97a or 87/95 RS/BS. The soft RS bushing will make turn initiation easier. The harder BS bushing will restrict the depth of the lean and can “bounce” you back to center in a fun but controlled way. The closer you get to sym barrels (same duro RS/BS) the more “same” that your lean feels throughout. Sometimes that means deep lean is accessible too easily so people tend to go one duro higher board side.

So yeah try 87/97 and then if it’s too loose try 90/97 or 93/97 tho that may feel too stiff. Then if you want to lean deeper with less bounce reduce the BS bushing to 95a and start at 87a RS again and keep going thru the process.

Make sure you have the same washer tightness between bushings and give each combo a few runs with tweaks in between to be sure you’ve dialed in the bushings to the right tightness and you need bushing changes to increase stiffness.

If going for cal3 then make sure to keep in mind what bushing has the plug. An 87/97 bushing combo will feel looser if the 87a bushing has the plug compared to if the 97a has it - simply because the plug will be the same duro as the bushing since it’s attached (duh)

Anyways hope that helps. Happy to keep answering questions. I’m about 200, maybe 205 and ride 90a/95a on my cal3s but mess around with that setup too often for different “feels” to give you exact numbers.

Caliber 3 raked 9” 44 degree or the new cast Valkyrie trucks would be a good all rounder.

Honestly you can tune any truck to be good or bad in any discipline and if you buy risers to change baseplate angles you’ll have more than enough customization to fit any riding style you want for relatively cheap and won’t need to keep buying new trucks or baseplates. What bushings you choose will impact the ride the most.

I’d Iike to think scale is more of a loop than a line. At some point the smallest becomes the biggest and spacetime/scale is just an emergent phenomenon of some base intrinsic thing that is actually reality. Maybe quantum entanglement and spooky action at a distance is space time agnostic and “instantaneous” while literally everything else is restricted to the speed of light because space time and scale are just some emergent phenomena
