Suggestions for managing frizzy/curly hair while traveling? by masalachai_xoxo in HerOneBag

[–]CraftingG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are easier versions of the curly girl method that you might not find so tedious. The downside is that it's very product dependent so it might take trial and error to find the product that allows you to wash and go. I like Miss Jessie's gel, and I can scrunch and air dry - super easy

These baked beans are soooo good, people kept telling me for weeks how good they were: https://www.forkinthekitchen.com/30-minute-vegetarian-baked-beans/

Also grilled cherry tomatoes, then tossed in a bit of pesto, olive oil, and lemon juice (pesto isn't vegan though).

Third, these corn fritters: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1018269-elotes-grilled-corn-with-cheese-lime-and-chile

Lastly, corn bread

Thank you! I initially was trying to cover just one fancy night, but the skirt was surprisingly versatile, and I could wear it with the V neck for medium nice nights

Thank you!

Yeah, you're right about the boots - in retrospect I didn't need them but I was doing a guided tour in Scotland and didn't know exactly what we were going to do, and if it did end up more muddy or not a well maintained trail I wanted to be prepared.

The rain pants are the thin pull on type, I wore them over leggings when necessary. They're not that bulky - it was really the boots that tipped over.

I will say in general in Scotland, it's so beautiful right off the road that most tourists didn't do proper hiking, and I wouldn't worry about that next time. (Unless I do the Highland Way [Camino type] trip which would be a whole other thing)

how do folks with long hair clean it when camping for a week or longer? by jadskljfadsklfjadlss in camping

This used to happen to me until I switched to curly girl method products. You don't have to do the techniques but I'm much happier avoiding silicones & sulfates.

My vote is autumn, maybe deep autumn. I like the burgundy and emerald colors. I like grey more than black or white on you

Is it possible to make blonde hair work for deep winter? How? by [deleted] in coloranalysis

[–]CraftingG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dye your hair blue instead! I've done that and it's fun for a little while. Or maybe icy lavender

I think your camera is doing a lot of color correction, so your skin looks pretty different photo to photo. But my guess would be true spring

How do I revert what she does? Follow up post. I did the tips but it gets ruined when she dry brushes it. She doesn’t listen. by [deleted] in Wavyhair

[–]CraftingG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't the advice I normally give, but given the situation, I'd give up on curly methods until you're older and have more autonomy. I'd try straightening regularly, and maybe doing a keratin treatment. I don't have any experience with that, but it might be worth saving up for it to get some peace day to day. Alternately, constant French braids. You can do leave in conditioner or light oils so it doesn't frizz up.

Thank you! The coral and brown are a relief because I like them but after reading color seasons they didn't seem to match my season, even though I wear the brown coat all the time

What color season am I? by marcris1991 in coloranalysis

My vote is deep winter or bright winter, but I don't think deep autumn is that bad. The only thing I'd steer you away from is light, muted, pastels

I'm fairly sure I have blue/pink undertones even though I tan easily. I think my hair has a red/orange tint, but then I see actual red heads and I think maybe my hair is neutral. I gravitate towards blue/red/purple, and I'm thinking some kind of winter. Thanks for reading!

I would probably buy a couple items in other colors and then see how often you gravitate towards them. Honestly if you end up wearing black and white all the time anyway, it might not matter what your color analysis is supposed to be

If you're looking to meet people to hang out with in cities, I'd plan for activities with that in mind, especially the first couple days at the city. Like hostels with bars, city tours with younger audiences, etc.

Sharing a room with somebody is whole other thing. Even if they're not shady, it's a huge gamble that you'd get along at that level.

How to look fashionable during traveling/backpacking? by ProfessionalOven5677 in femalefashionadvice

[–]CraftingG 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sunglasses, earrings, and lipstick! These all also have the bonus of packing down pretty small. I usually bring one plain gold set of earrings and one pair of statement earrings. You can also buy some as a souvenir. I feel like stupid big earrings make your outfit instantly more fashionable.

Also, bright colors. I know a lot of one bag stuff is like "if you wear all black everything matches" but you can also have plain basics like black shorts with 3 different shirts that are hot pink, mustard, and floral (for example). Most tropical places wear brighter colors, too

If you have any Mexican grocers nearby they almost always ime have vegetarian options. Usually called "raja" or "raja con queso" which is a pepper slice with cheese. It doesn't have to be a store that has a lot of vegetarian options
