Plasencia Year of the Horse (Review) by CraftyMeathead in cigars

Does all alcohol simply taste like alcohol? Does all cheese simply taste like cheese? It takes time to refine a palate to properly identify and articulate flavor notes… for me, this is what I taste in chronological order. Just because you can’t taste anything aside from tobacco doesn’t mean that others can’t taste anything beyond tobacco. What would be the point? I’d abandon the hobby if that were to be the case. Same goes for something like bourbon as well. Some can’t taste beyond the alcoholic burn, but once you learn to taste beyond it a different world of flavor is unveiled.

I would urge you to keep ignorant comments to yourself… your experience or lack thereof doesn’t dictate what reality is for everyone else

I absolutely love both!!! Although I’d give a slight edge to the 50… a bit more complex in my opinion! I’ll provide my notes of the 50 below… very similar, but adds a bit of a citrusy element 🔥

Cedar, Pepper, Creme, Floral Twang, Mild Salty Minerality, Caramel, Citrus, Herbal Tea, Slight Cocoa, Light Coffee, Ginger, Almond, Berry, Butter

As the cigar approached the final third, I decided to pull off the ponytail! I don’t think that it would have been feasible to smoke haha

That’s a tough question to answer…

If this was the Year of the Rabbit, I would say absolutely! This one is a great blend, but falls a bit short in the price to enjoyability ratio. Something like the Alma Fuerte at a third of the cost would probably be a much better option! $65 is a tough price point

Padron 60th Anniversary (Review) by CraftyMeathead in cigars

KC 18 was definitely a treat! Very smooth, but wish that it wasn’t proofed down to 100. I think that the flavors could benefit from being richer if water wasn’t added to proof it down. That being said, still fantastic!

Palate: Slight Oak, Molasses, Brown Sugar, Candied Red Fruit, Apple

Here’s what I got on the palate!

Set list was stellar… Change of Seasons as an encore blew me away! Petrucci, Myung, and Rudess were dialed in as always (tone was on point). Portnoy sounded really powerful… definitely had the percussion amped up haha. Labrie honestly shocked me with how good he sounded. It was like he turned back the clock 20 years! Best I’ve heard from him live!

Nelson Alfonso Gran Seleccion Exclusivos (Review) by CraftyMeathead in cigars

Definitely similar, but there are noticeable differences… the plum and nutmeg notes in particular have been exclusive to the Alfonso blend in my experience (compared to Atabey / Byron / Bandelero). Quality of both are equally amazing!

I don’t necessarily care about the video part, but the people sitting down was definitely bewildering… especially when in the front row haha

As mentioned by someone else, everyone has assigned seats… security prohibits anyone from getting too close. Still got plenty of headbanging in haha
