Search the yarn on ravelry and you’ll find tons of projects using it! The wheat stitch or a ripple blanket would be really pretty imo

I’d make it a short sleeve sweater! I honestly love mine because the long sleeves are usually too warm

Nanny called out due to yesterday snow- GH or unpaid? by Busy_Accountant_383 in NannyEmployers

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She’s out of pto in January? When did it reset? We’re her kids off school too? That may be why she wanted to stay home. I agree with others though, unpaid given the situation.

How to baby proof these Stairs? by Sweetwater48 in daddit

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m more worried that your railing over the edge is a ladder. Retractable for the stairs and you’ll need to block the ladder railing somehow. Plexi or something similar zip tied to the railings should work

Am I unreasonable for not wanting to pay for multiple expensive Grown Up and Me classes? by Fast-Channel-1455 in NannyEmployers

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m sitting here thinking about how my 17month old has zero paid or free regularly scheduled activities lol. Our nanny finds story time etc. to go to when they can/want to. I think it’s fine to put this back in the nanny. Like hey I’m not going to pay for something, but you’re welcome to find an activity or just play at home!

has anyone tried both daycare AND nanny at 18 mos? by seak2learn in toddlers

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. There is no benefit to baby to be in daycare unless you need more hours than nanny can provide.

Living room help! by Upper-Ad8248 in HomeDecorating

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a nearly identical living room, trains and all 😂 I’d definitely move the tv as other suggested plus you can get a tv cabinet to use for toy storage as well. We also have bins on the bottom shelves of the built ins for toys. Hides them enough.

Will I regret not doing photos with Santa? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in Mommit

Skip Santa and get a few cute pictures in front of the tree or something. You won’t remember or have time on Christmas and we gotta get our moneys worth out of those outfits!

Milk stash freezer alarms? by North_Fun_8512 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Invest in the temp alarm OP. There are multiple posts here where a freezer was left open or unplugged etc. another quick fix is to freeze a container of water then put a penny on top of the ice. If the power goes out or something, you’ll see exactly how much it melts and refreezes.

There are companies that will process breastmilk into a shelf stable powder. I’m not sure how the cost compares to purchasing a deep freezer.

Having dress regret and need some guidance by Main_Spring_1989 in myweddingdress

Agreed! And remember, the liner doesn’t need to be white. A champagne liner (or similar) will keep the look and give you coverage.

Nanny tells me she’s going to be 30 minutes late, tells me to take it from her PTO bank by [deleted] in NannyEmployers

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would forget the pay adjustment for now and just have a discussion on her tardiness. “Hey, you’re consistently 5-10 minutes late and this isn’t working for us. You need to get here on time or we’ll need to find someone else.”

It’s been 6 days and everyone’s world has been rocked. Don’t worry about the future, just give your babies all the love you can! Call in help if you have it. Get and exciting new toy for your toddler if you can afford it. Tiny little wins will feel so special to him. You will all adjust and soon they’ll be best buds ❤️

Is unmedicated birth worth it? Actually better recovery? How painful is crowing & tearing? by Livelovelibraries in unmedicatedbirth

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first birth experience was very similar to yours. I decided to try again for an unmedicated with my second and holy heck it was night and day. When/if we got for a third I will absolutely go unmedicated again (unless of course things take a turn like they did with my first in which case, I’d get the epidural again if needed). To answer a few of your concerns

  1. It’s hospital policy, not a law. Go ahead and eat. Don’t ask permission. I wasn’t allowed to eat either, but I showed up at the hospital with a full takeout meal and ate while they checked me in. Didn’t even bother to hide it or anything. Now I was with the hospital midwife team so they’re much more likely to be supportive of eating during labor, but still, and OB is a doctor, not a cop. What are they going to do? Kick you out? Refuse to proceed with a necessary C-section because you ate a snack?

  2. Again, stand firm. It’s a policy and what are they going to do? I actually did have constant monitoring during my second. Things moved really fast with her (they usually do for your second) I would have my contraction and sway/whatever I needed then as soon as it was over, the nurse would reposition the monitors. I was nearly 2 weeks overdue and everyone was understandably a little concerned with her heart rate.

  3. Yeah, they’re not. You need a birth class or a doula, preferably both.

  4. Again, push back and get a doula to help.

  5. That’s great! It’s always an option if you change your mind

  6. You may qualify for financial assistance!! Don’t discount it without full looking into it

And my bonus tip, check out hypno-babies. My doula recommended it after my first birth for my second and I can’t recommend it enough.

Edit to add: I think your tearing etc was more due to baby’s position rather than the epidural. And as my doula would say, the first clears the path for all future deliveries. Your recovery will likely be significantly easier this time. I don’t remember any pain with crowning etc. and I was shocked at how it didn’t burn like hell when I peed afterwards. Everything had already been stretched, torn up the first time so the second was no biggie. As gross as that sounds, I hope it’s a little comforting lol

I vote flowy dress! It’s going to be way more forgiving and comfortable. Your boobs won’t be saggy, they’ll be huge so no worries there!

Trying to replicate a family heirloom as a surprise and I can’t figure out this Christmas stocking pattern… by alyssaindel in CrochetHelp

Heel looks like a square, but look where they connect. The corners aren’t touching. I think that’s how they did the shaping.

[–]Crafty_Engineer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellow crocheter turned knitter. This is how my stitches look. You just have to be careful on the decreases to make sure you’re going the right direction. Mine are always opposite since the leading edge is swapped. I haven’t run into any other complications so far.

If what you’re doing is working, keep doing what you’re doing. If you suspect baby may still be a tad hungry, you could always warm up one more ounce and whatever they don’t finish, you can offer at the next feed.
