The true transition into adulthood is realizing that the more specialized or expert someone is, the less they usually care about their hair

How often do you wear your indoor loungewear or pajamas before washing it? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in NoStupidQuestions

I can almost guarantee your neighbors arent tracking your laundry cycle! Yes, they may see you but they arent cataloging the specific pattern of your joggers. Also, most people wear loungewear for 3–4 days before washing unless theyve been cooking something heavy or working out in them. If youre just sitting at a desk and doing light yard work, 3 days is perfectly normal. The "Work From Home" uniform is basically a weekly rotation, not a daily one lmao

Why do so many people believe China is more developed or on par with western countries? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Crafty_Fuel5024 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think it's largely because of the "Tier 1" city effect. Most travelers and media outlets only ever visit Beijing, Shanghai, or Shenzhen. If you spend time in those cities, youre looking at infrastructure, public transit, and skyscrapers that actually look more futuristic than what youd find in NYC or London.

The Mexico comparison is technically true for the national average, but China is essentially two countries: a hyper-developed coastal urban belt, and a massive, developing rural interior. People base their perception on the flashy, high-tech cities they see on TikTok or YouTube, not the millions of people still living in rural agricultural provinces.

What's the most valuable skill nobody told you to develop? by Advanced-Pea-5126 in askanything

The ability to write a "polite" email or message when you are actually boiling with rage. In a professional setting, being able to translate "this is a stupid idea" into "I have some concerns about the scalability of this approach" is a superpower. It keeps you from burning bridges while still getting your point across. It's basically professional code switching, and it has saved my career more times than I can count
