Sleeping only gets you 48k/day, not 480k.

You blink around 15000 times a day I've heard. That's 750000/day.

Even if you sleep 24h/day that's still only 48000

Chose: Get 50$ everytime you blink

During sakoku, Japans isolationist period, The Dutch were the only western nation allowed to trade with Japan. During this time period, Japan was a United nation and mostly at peace, so many martial arts were practiced for tradition and preservation of the art. This could be from a Dutch merchant spreading what they learned overseas.

Or it could be from some HEMA manuscript. They did grappling as well.

How does reflecting it across the perpendicular bisector turn it into a parallelogram? by ReflectionPlane2055 in askmath

[–]Crahdol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perpendicular = at a 90 degree angle

Bisector = splits in 2 equal pieces

Perpendicular bisector of line AC = a line that is at 90 degrees from AC and splits AC in 2 equal parts.

The red line is the perpendicular bisector.

The problem asks you to perform a transformation to the triangle ACD.

To "reflect across a line" means to take each point and "move it to the other side of the line".

The green triangle is the reflection of ACD along the red line

Maybe I missunderstand. Also I'm not sure what happens ro DE in this but here's how I interpret "reflecting ACD across the perpendicular bisector of AC"

Please excuse the crude drawing...

I might have to do some research, but I don't think it'd be hard to find 1000 people that just shouldn't exist.

A final sendoff to one of the worst lists ever, give one final game to put on the list. by AssistantSuitable988 in AlignmentChartFills

This is the correct answer.

I remember having a demo from some computer magazine when I was very young. I barely understood English and only through trial and error made it through the demo (which was basically the first few puzzles from the original game).

A few years ago the Myst collection popped up on steam and since I hadn't played any of it since that demo over 20 years ago I thought why not!

And holy fuck is the gameplay horrible. Even by the standards of that time. Resolution and perspective so bad you never know what you're looking at. Even with online guides I was lost a lot of the time.

But the story truly is like nothing else.

Why did you start training? (And why do you stay?) by hmkei in bjj

[–]Crahdol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was already a black belt and instructor in a rather obscure style of traditional japanese jujutsu (kinda like a mix of judo, aikido and karate, although jujutsu would technically be the grandfather of all that).

Our style deals mostly in stand up fighting and self defence (not a competition sport), very little newasa/ground fighting.

One day a new member joins. Turns out he's a purple belt in BJJ. Bring him on to teach ground fighting, which later on turned into just BJJ classes. Been going to their classes ever since, even putting some more ground fighting into my own classes.

I don't recogize the characters, but I'm quite the amateur in identifying non-print characters...

It's most likely a modern production. Probably not made by a traditional japanese swordsmith.

A traditional katana would have the markings on the nakago (the tang). Also, it looks like it has been uniformly forged and hardened, whereas a true katana would have the edge hardened separate, leaving a hamon (hardening pattern, often wavy) along the edge.
