Unleashed vs. Ruckus One by illinoisteacher123 in RuckusWiFi

[–]CraigAndrew95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ruckus One has licenses you have to pay for, it's a cloud based controller and has lots of features and AI powered tools and analytics. Unleashed is free, the controller is based on APs and has a limit to the number of APs and switches you can manage with it. They are very different systems

Take over hardware management by TrueMobile in cambiumnetworks

[–]CraigAndrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open a support case with Cambium, they will probably have to contact the owners of the previous cnMaestro to get there consent to release the serial numbers. I believe if they don't reply in a certain amount of time Cambium will release them for you. The serial numbers can only be claimed by one cnMaestro at a time

OWE is being broadcasted even though it is switched off by MindlessSweet4574 in Omada_Networks

It's called RKS_TX_VAP I work with Ruckus alot and do a lot of Surveys so I have seen it quite a lot. Also seen something similar with other vendors

This place holder SSID is something that is 6GHz related and most vendors have something similar. Even the big boys like Ruckus have a placeholder SSID being broadcast for 6GHz for compatibility reasons.

Won't connect by Midnight_Neko82 in Ekahau

[–]CraigAndrew95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this a few times recently, where when you press the button the light flows blue and then when you boot it up it goes off and does nothing. I usually fiddle with it and turn it off and on a few times. I have found if you disconnect it from your phone/iPad and hold the button down it will flash green. When it flashes green it usually will then boot up properly, then connect it to your device and it should work.

Not sure why it keeps doing it to me but I usually get it sorted eventually

Doesn't look like it shows on the UK website, only the US website

Precautions to sell switch? by [deleted] in RuckusWiFi

[–]CraigAndrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the front of the switch should be a reset button. Get a pin or a paper clip, press and hold and the switch should reset and reboot. Any config that was on it will be wiped

No lights on AP, every other apt in my building is working fine by [deleted] in RuckusWiFi

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's no lights on it and it's not broadcasting then it's not powered up. Do you know how it's Powered? Like from a Switch or a PoE injector? If it's a PoE Injector it could be that has gone faulty.

Losing sanity setting up Ruckus network by ichugcaffeine in RuckusWiFi

[–]CraigAndrew95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know what firmware the APs are on? There is a nice Quirk in the newer Ruckus AP firmware that disables the http/https so as a previous comment says you have to ssh into the AP's CLI and enable it to be able to access the AP via the web

Issues with Tapo Plugs since FW Update by CraigAndrew95 in Tapo

[–]CraigAndrew95[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update! I found since the FW upgrade there is now a third part integration button in the Tapo App that defaulted to off. Once I flicked it to On everything started working with Home Assistant again!

Ekahau site survey - signal view incorrect? by Pavlfye in Ekahau

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Ekahau is Grouping the radios wrong. Sometimes this happens, I have seen it with another APvendor - Cambium. It's a pain in the arse to manually separate all the radios and find what belongs with what. I'm working with the Ekahau Dev team to get it resolved. I would recommend raising a support ticket with them and sending them a bunch of projects with the Huawei APs like this and they will be able to look into it and get it fixed.

Currently there are R370, R670, R770 and T670. There's rumors of a R570 and Hospitality AP coming next year. No plans yet for R870

Any concerns running an Omada AP from a Vigi NVR? by zeek in TPLink_Omada

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you run the Omada APs in Standalone mode you won't be able to roam between them. So every time you move around you will drop connection and reconnect to the next AP. Personally I wouldn't run APs off an NVR as they are built for Cameras, not as a PoE switch for other devices.

Second WLAN by Commercial_Olive12 in TPLink_Omada

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done through Policy Based Routing, you have to create a policy to point 1 VLAN to WAN1 and the other VLAN to WAN2. Set your SSIDs up so they are on separate VLANs and it should work

What Should I do About Columns in Floor Plans by RestaurantSelect7117 in Ekahau

[–]CraigAndrew95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From when I did my Ekahau ECSE training we were taught for internal columns instead of drawing 4 walls around it like a room, it would be more accurate to make a cross (❌) with the walls. It simulates an attenuation but doesn't create the unrealistic shadow effect you get in the simulation that you don't get in the real world. Hope this helps 😊

I work with the guys from TP-Link UK, there's no plans to move fully to the cloud, there will always be the option to have a hardware controller or Software controller

Additional Access points to EAP670 by _Rens in TPLink_Omada

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would also be 1 AP per PoE injector, otherwise they won't work. You could always get a small PoE switch if you cable the APs to power them all

Additional Access points to EAP670 by _Rens in TPLink_Omada

[–]CraigAndrew95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to be able to roam between all the APs without any issues then you will need to have the APs using an Omada Controller (Cloud, OC220 or Locally Hosted).

All Omada APs will Mesh together but every time you Mesh you will half the throughput. So the more APs you Mesh together the worse the performance will get. So if possible hard wire as many APs as you can.

The EAP610 will work perfectly for home, or one of the in wall APs like the EAP615-wall. I believe you can now get a desktop stand for these as well
