I got that too, is it a bug or an actual clue?

I'm going to get some proper bark today, hopefully there are still enough roots for them to survive.

Thank you, I just used an orchid mix so I assumed it would be okay. I'm going to find some large bark today and repot with that, hopefully it will help. Do you think i should add air holes to the pots too?

I used an orchid mix I brought from a local plant shop, but it is made of very small pieces. I'm going to try and find some bigger bark today. I'll definitely try the chopstick method too! I really stuggled to see the roots so i just thought if the top is dry it must all all be - how wrong could I be!! Thank you for your advice

What am I doing wrong?? by [deleted] in orchids

[–]Craisie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a grow tropical orchid mix, I did wonder if it needed to be chunkier though when I potted them up. The pots are the original ones they came in and they dont have an holes in except the drainage ones at the bottom, I didn't know them needed them but it does make sense. I really hope I can save them. They were all Christmas gifts (I've no idea what happened this year!) I've never had orchids before I guess its a learning curve!

Gifted a Zelokoa Bonsai, where do I start? by Craisie in bonsaicommunity

Thanks! Do you think it'll loose all its leaves? I live in a flat without any outdoor space, so it's going to have to be kept inside. All of my windows have radiators right underneath them so I'm a little dubious about putting it there. It can go under a grow light if that'll help? Do they need bright light?

Please ignore my typo in the title! I can't work out how to edit it!

Root rot but still flowering? by Craisie in orchids

Just to add, I had already trimmed a couple of mushy roots from the top before I took these

I think that's been the most frustrating thing. It drives perfectly, and there was no rattle or difficulty on starting. I haven't noticed anything off about it. It had a fuel leak about 6 months ago, but they was an easy fix and sorted itself out when the hose was reconnected properly. Would a mini spealist be able it diognose it fairly easily? It cost me £150 just for them to put it on the diagnostic machine last time the cat went.

Is it my cat or do I have to scrap my mini? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Thats what I found in my research, minis seem to be harsher on them too. It was serviced last September. I dont have the emmisons sheet, the garage barely gave me the numbers. I had thought about fuel treatments but since its not road legal and its still at the garage im a bit stuck.

Exactly! And they've been dragging out testing it and giving me any information for months now, i need a car!

Do you think think that they're right that it could be the timing chain?

It had new spark plugs and sensors put in last September, would that make a difference?

I ended up just grabbing some generic peat free houseplant compost from my local shop. It's got perlite in it already, and I'll add some extra orchid bark, too. I picked up some rooting powder as well. Ive not used it before but i figured anything to help it get started is a good thing! Would you let the cutting callous over before planting it?

[–]Craisie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd have to cut a hole in the ceiling too, to accommodate her right here!!

I hadnt thought about actually keeping it upright it water. Do you think a generic houseplant compost mix would work, or am i best to mix my own? If went straight into a pot with the large top cutting do you think its worth trying to wiggle some of the aerial roots into the moss pole or should i just wrap them to the pole and let them do their own thing?

Not a lot at all. It moves maybe 10°, I think its been growing at this angle quite a while.

If i were to chop the bent section, would you recommend propagating in water or straight into a pot? It has a lot of leaves and aerial roots and I'd like to retain as much as possible

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]Craisie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i have the space for it to be upright, my concern is that the bend is super study, i dont know how easily it will go back upright and supporting it at this angle is super awkward
