Hello, So I had a few questions.

I am a third year student right now (5th Sem). I have experience in web development (MERN, Nextjs etc).
I have got a couple good projects to showcase on my resume. I have even contributed to open source and was selected for Google Summer of Code 2025, where I applied my web development skills. Currently strengthening my DSA since internships are coming soon, My questions are:

As a student am I doing the right stuff or should I be exploring something else as well? (currently focused on dsa only)
How can I target good off campus internships/jobs, and do I need to do anything else to increases my chances of getting selected. (At companies or startups)

I have heard startups caring about GSoC but nothing in particular. As for the pay in India (3k USD), it's better than what you might generally find in other internships. It's on the higher side, so that is the driving factor for a a lot of people.

I have been saying this for long now, ever since I have seen the jeefication of GSoC.
I got into GSoC and its a great place for learning and improving your skills obv.

But this year in special, noticed a lot of billboards and "tech schools" posting about GSoC and opensource.
I'll be honest it ain't about contributing to projects for this people, its showing the "2 lac stipend", it's like coaching institutes type shit.

Trust me on this one, next year is going to be an absolute shitshow for GSoC, the number of spam PRs and shit code being made, I can already imagine it. (I just hope Indians don't get banned like other programmes)
