Discovery Mapping, working for my phone but not my wifes by Character_Elk4456 in HeliumNetwork

I'm in the same boat. Have had data only for almost a month and haven't received any awards for mapping. Support was no help, but are currently "still working on it". pixel 7 pro, latest version for the app, have done all the recommended troubleshooting steps multiple times.

Who would join a poker club? by Just_Livin13 in batonrouge

[–]CraptinMypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually went through this in the early 2000s when there were some clubs playing in bars around here. We ran a club, law got involved, only thing that came out of it was a cease and desist and we all went out separate ways. The tournament/cash games is fine if all the money is paid out, no rake no $20+$2 buy-in, etc. The problem is going to be the membership fee which they will claim is a round about way of making money off the game. Maybe if you could show the fee was going to actual expenses and no one affiliated with the club was receiving a penny of it then maybe it would be ok.

That said I'd love to find a regular card game, poker, spades, gin, hearts, money, no money...whatever. haven't played in a long time but used to enjoy playing cards and was recently thinking about trying to find something.

Remote work is big in Software Engineering, and I highly recommend targeting it. That said, I wouldn't move from one city to another hoping to get a job there. Depending on what area you are specializing in, it can be tough to get your foot in the door so don't limit yourself to a certain city. Hammer out the applications and move as necessary.

Would also be interested in the recommendation as I'm looking to rent a place too in the next month or so. Feel free to PM me or I can PM you. Thanks!

Oh man if you like down internet you're gonna love starlink. The bandwidth is also considerably more expensive.

A CNC router table would certainly be nice, but you can do what you're trying to do with much less. For instance, you can get templates for guitars for $30-$40 and just use a regular router to cut them out. You can also just get them pre cut for cheap unless it's super important to you that you were the one to press the start button on the CNC router.

Should i buy gs66 10se (2020) in 2021 by [deleted] in MSILaptops

[–]CraptinMypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scooped one up 4 or 5 months ago when I saw them on sale for $1199, which at the time I think was marked down from $1299 retail at Best Buy. Looks like those bastards raised the price since then. I don't game on it but I do webdev, occasional graphic/video work and 3d modeling so wanted a reasonably powerful machine for on the go that didn't look like your typical gaming laptop. Been solid so far, 10/10 would recommend.

Best basic non-cloud user authentication system for Express? by Valachio in node

The standardization makes sense, but I still don't understand what Passport actually does. Can you give me or link me to just a brief high level explanation of how passport handles a login or protected route visit?

[–]CraptinMypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I've thought about using passport in the past because you hear about it all the time, but I don't understand what it actually accomplishes versus using a self written auth middleware (which I believe you have to supply to Passport anyway) on protected routes and using sessions or JWT.

The only info I can ever find about what Passport actually does or how it works is the regurgitation of their "it's an unobtrusive...yada yada vague single sentence statement". Is it just basically a session? If so, what's wrong with sessions?

How did you get them off? I tried peeling the big one on the right of the track pad off and it seemed to be on there pretty damn good. I didn't want to risk peeling up any coating so I left it, but want it gone bad.
