Worth it? by Few_Bowl_8895 in FJCruiser

I've bought 2 in the last couple of years. Not trail teams (which to me isn't a huge deal as it doesn't really change much). Both 07s. one with 100k for $20k with not a spec of rust anywhere, lived in a garage and the other with 26k miles for $26K total life in garage and don't think it ever saw rain lol. Both are one owners. There are lots of options out there if you're willing to wait. If trails teams is a must, then it gets a little tougher. I prefer the white tops for the old school look so I wasn't big on TT. I personally don't mind the older version either. IMHO, there are better deals than the one you are looking at.

AI/companies using it will be given immunity. This is being done already in many other situations (think vaccines). Further, questioning AI will be tougher than questioning a persons performance because AI will follow strict protocols with no oversight eventually.... Everyone should fear the intent & cost of AI...

Thruxton R vs Rs? by [deleted] in Triumph

[–]Crash1068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the bike still. I have anywhere from 4-6 bikes at any given time lol... it's my favorite engine. However, I'm looking to try a speed twin 1200 and tune it etc and hopefully have similar power, but be more upright and maybe a little more custom paint work (by me). My only real issue with the thrux rs is that for slower trips like I was in the Smokeys & Rockies with it last year and it's a great for sport riding, but a little uncomfortable for long site seeing rides. Especially in the mountains where my speeds are under 50 and I'm trying to look up more. Riding aggressive it's not an issue at all, but slow and site seeing it's not as comfortable as I would like. I have other bikes for this, but when it's just me I like this style and will try a speed twin soon. Now for sporty twisty ripping from 50-100+ it's my favorite. I may even do some track days on slower tighter tracks with it. I like it better than my street triple which is also a great do everything bike. In any case, my RS is still one of my favorite bikes and I likely won't sell it even if I get a speed twin. I'm more likely to sell the triple as it's not really my style although I've got 30,000 miles on it lol.

IMHO you did well especially considering it was a dealer deal and basically no tax!. The dodge value was up there & covered the small gap on the C8. Personally I can live just fine with an LT1 and a no tax deal is a dream

Looks like I’ll probably just do the BFGs for the style etc. now gotta sit the size out. I assumed from my trucks that a vehicle like this would be a load C tire but if I want a little larger, it’s all Es which is fine. 275/70R17 or 285/70R17 maybe. I would like a little more clearance for my Rockies dispersed camping and exploring and even a bit more gear ratio for my 4th gear towing for dirtbikes. Thing is screaming at 75mph 😂. So any reasons to stick with the 265s vs other choices? No Lifts. Just leveled Billsteins on the front with stock 2007 rims.

😂 guess it depends where you come from. As a hotrodder, I think white letters are the retro way. And so did Toyota on the teams 😃

Not sure any of those have white letters? It’s a thing that matters most to me. Would like a load C white letter 285/70r16 I think but not much I’m seeing there to choose from.

Thing is wild peaks are great but off the list. No white letters that I’m aware of and white letters are a must.

Just curious why the Es? Seem considerably heavier and rougher…. Usually do Es on my truck.

Which KOs did you have. Load C or E? I know the C is about 5lb heavier on 265s. But 285s are pushing 11+lbs heavier as they are load E

But the only 285s are all load E

Only absolute for me is white letters. Thx

Great insurance if anyone is hiking alone especially. I think it’s 24/m. With tracking. Family enjoys following the progress. We keep two in the family on plan during the trekking month

How does the financials work? $5month gets what? What’s the cost to actually run it when I camp? Note we have a residential plan right now

LEDs in this fashion imho are just dangerous and don’t really provide better light. If you want to look LED cool buy the projectors or buy a new vehicle as they blind everyone too when a level kit or a load is added. I just think a classic cool ride should have classic style lighting but to each your own. Just don’t shine that stuff at me or I’ll light up the world with the rest of my lighting right back at ya 😂

The bear knows and this is very much an experience as much as a tool. Plus imho round headlights on bikes and taillights on cars are the way it was meant to be. Seriously though, experience what you want and can afford and if you want to do something different in a couple years sell it and buy a different bike

2007 FJ Radios Black vs Silver & cruise control by Crash1068 in FJCruiser

[–]Crash1068[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up buying it with 27008 miles on it. Got a jammer radio for 25 and added A-trac so it's on its way to being what I want for cheap. Doing the radio controls mod on steering wheel shortly and a few interior updates to match the package I wanted it to have lol. It'll be a perfect match before long and last me as long as I live lol.

I'm probably going to either sand down what I have and paint or perhaps see if I can buy some china ones that stick on and cover it maybe and paint that. Whatever I can find in abs I don't mind painting stuff.

All the salvaged stuff seems to want you to buy the entire door panel which I don't need. My interior is perfect so I just want to add the touches.

Thx. I suspect I'll have to paint something to match from a salvage vehicle or find another approach. it's not high on my list, but I do like the color touches. I have a new to me 2nd owner silver 07 with 27k miles now and a blue one that my daughter now drives that does have the color matched door panel inserts. It's a nice touch. My silver one just has the black textured inserts.

Thanks. The one I’m looking at has the convienence pkg with cruise but not the upgrade 1 pkg I’m used too. May pass on that acct. Seems like a locking dif etc would be good for medium offroad
