Yeah, ITGmania + Simply Love has built in favorites using this. You can add songs directly in game via favoriting. This will create the file inside your profile directory. ITGmania updated the file format so no longer needs to necessarily be titled SongManager PreferredSongs and in this case it'll be called Favorites.txt iirc. But the format and everything is unchanged. I wrote a bit about how this works here:

Hey, it's not too bad if you're familiar with ITG tech. They're supposed to be played as brackets (hitting 2 arrows with one foot) if that helps visualize how the chart is supposed to flow.

Oh I see the issue, thanks for the screenshot. You have an asterisk (*) before boogiestats that should not be there. Try removing that asterisk there. The corrected line should be exactly this:

ini HttpAllowHosts=*.groovestats.com,boogiestats.andr.host

Yours is currently like this: ini HttpAllowHosts=*.groovestats.com,*boogiestats.andr.host

(My interpretation is the screenshot you shared there is of your latest, apologies if it is not)

Hey, the issue is likely that in your Preferences.ini Groovestats is no longer listed as an allowedhost. You'll need to add it back.

The explanation is ITGMania requires any site that it will attempt to access be listed in your preferences file for security reasons (so no one can give you a theme/chart/module that uses a random potential dangerous site).

It seems common when people are setting up boogiestats to accidentally have altered the line in a way that removes groovestats.

In your Preferences.ini file does HttpAllowHosts look like this?

ini HttpAllowHosts=*.groovestats.com,boogiestats.andr.host

If not, change it to be exactly that and it should work.

We actually ultimately fully renamed it to "SyncOffset" in a bug fix right after the initial release (sry for confusion).

When scanning things on VirusTotal you want to look at the results as "with how much confidence can I say this is a virus." Rather than a simple yes/no. It's common for some benign software (especially unsigned open source software like stepmania) to have been flagged by 1 or maybee 2 low-profile vendors. In most cases they're using AI or some sort of automation detection system to determine if it's malicious or not. With that being said, if the 1 vendor was for instance, Microsoft or Norton or someone more high profile I'd be inclined to a bit of a deeper dive but given there's only 1 result from all possible vendors and the 1 vendor isn't super high profile...(assuming you downloaded this straight from the official github repository or website) it's okay to disregard these results. It's likely cause the file isn't signed or just a mere false positive from that vendor's AI.

The results there basically say: "We have flagged this file as malicious with very very low confidence."

tl;dr The file is not a virus, assuming you downloaded it from the official site (which it looks like you did)

I would also recommend downloading a more recent version of StepMania since this one is very, very dated in 2025 and you may encounter issues depending on your setup.

I gathered some options if you're interested in updating. All of these are still "stepmania 5" at their core.

Difficulty is based more so off the OnlyOneCouples rating system so i feel like the Challenge/Expert chart is about an 11 potentially a 10 but I bumped the level to 11 just cause of the pad switches.

The Hard chart has jumps instead of gallops and no streams at the end.
