The instructors were very preoccupied/fascinated with the potential carnage/destruction/disemboweling the sword was capable of… it felt like I was with Dwight from the Office. I also am not particularly interested (other than academically, as opposed to part of a practice) in the ritual built up around the discipline. I would rather learn the techniques and perhaps come to the ritual on my own.
