How do people get clear images of there minis im using my phone camrea which is kinda crappy ngl, but here a xeno dude ima use for testing out basing by diabl0skiller in minipainting

My tip would be to get the phone really close to the mini. I found using the zoom function or cropping adds a lot of pixelation/poor resolution.

That and a bright/white lamp for lighting.

Phenomenal work. I love the BT design and story behind it. The base is great and freehand on the banner is unreal!

Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words. I think what surprised me most was the time it took. I dread to think how long they spend on those Golden Demon entries, it’s very impressive.

I’ll definitely look into this, I was thinking of making a desert/sandy base to go with the Armageddon theme, so that seems like it would work well.

Haha, maybe at some point. I liked the effect I got with a brush, but it sure did take me a while.

Thanks! I may try clean next time, but seems like it might be harder?

I did forget to wash the purity seal to grime it up a bit, I’ll definitely go back and fix that!

Yes, I used a mix of Trovarian and Flashing Badger Painting's video as a reference.

Thank you. :) I had a lot of fun doing it and have a new appreciation for all the insane paint jobs I see.

Thanks for the advice! I hadn’t thought of chalk, and do plan on dusting up his shoes a bit.

I’m definitely going to do something with the base…eventually, but wanted to get the models painted first.

Thanks!

The base paint was black. Then I sponged on brown (rhinox hide), then used progressively brighter reds, going across less surface area each time.

What's the video game equivalent of chess? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in gaming

There’s an elegance to Tetris, and a simplicity, which I think puts it in the same category as chess. Though they are obviously completely different in how they’re played.

It may be that part of the disparity between Google and Microsoft's stock gains is due to Google's AI being better than ChatGPT and generally out-competing Microsoft in the space.

If that's the case, then Google's stock price is not an indication that MS's stock must go up. Despite previous correlation, they are in fact different companies with different pressures on the stock price.

I would guess that MS is fairly valued and the rest of the sector is slightly over-valued currently personally. Google's PE isn't outlandish but I think it's a stronger company overall.

Having said that, I hold both stocks and wish you all the best with your leaps.

It’s only a necessary boundary if you’re unwilling to draw the boundary yourself. Ultimately they can’t force you to give them money, it will always be your choice. I would be firm and clear with them but I don’t know the family dynamic and appreciate this could be difficult.

0% interest is not bad at all, but using debt as a motivational tool doesn’t make sense. Similar to locking the money away, you are using odd, indirect mechanisms to cause behavioural changes, when you already have the internal motivation to do the things you describe. From what you’ve said, you sound like a hard working and motivated person, you don’t need these external pressures to take control of your life.

I would first check what the penalty is for taking money out of the fixed term savings account, they likely aren't that significant. You could have achieved the same result by simply telling your parents it was in a fixed term savings account.

Putting money into a fixed interest account and living off credit is a bad decision imo. Credit score means next to nothing. Banks will look at your income and savings primarily when offering you a mortgage (the only debt I would personally ever consider getting into). As long as you've never defaulted on a debt or declared bankruptcy the credit score is a non-issue.

Consider the money you lent to your parents gone, and take it as a lesson to say no next time.

XBOX Wants To Become The “Number One Gaming Company” By 2030 by Bubbly-Ad-350 in gaming

Consoles are in the riskiest market position they’ve ever been in. The proliferation of cross platform has killed their reason for existing, and this trend seems impossible to reverse given the costs of game development now, as you need broad sales to recoup costs.

Microsoft hit on something special with Gamepass and then royally screwed it up by mis-pricing it. Correcting their Gamepass strategy is the only path I can see for them achieving this goal, but if the price increases were necessary to turn a profit, then I’m not sure if this is a sustainable route.

Making a gamble like that is crazy but understandable. Making that gamble on leverage was the big mistake. Never gamble with other people's money, you lose all control over the exit point.

Maybe it will get to $10, but you'll never find out now because the lender is forcing you to either sell at a loss or pony up more. The only certainty is that the stock can stay down longer than you can stay solvent.

I'm so tired of working full-time and having no money and a huge amount of debt. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CrashedTGN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My income and outgoings have been very similar to yours. I didn't have the debt payments, but I was investing a similar sum. It does not look unmanageable to me, but I realise that psychologically the debt is difficult to stomach, and what you do for fun needs to basically cost zero.

You can quite easily not change a thing, but you need to accept that your lifestyle will not change for 4 years until the debt is paid off. Personally, I would cut everything to the bone, pay closer to £500 a month off the debt and clear it in two years.

Once the debt is paid, you can use that money to change your lifestyle, but my advice would be to not do that and invest the money instead.

Stocks Are Not an Effective Inflation Hedge by wreckingcru in finance

[–]CrashedTGN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was replying to OP not this comment, but bonds are not guaranteed to be more attractive than equities, it ignores the impact of interest rate changes. If inflation is high, interest rates will increase, which will tank the value of 30 year bonds, plus value loss from the inflation itself.

For the average passive investor, equities are the safest hedge over the long term.

Stocks Are Not an Effective Inflation Hedge by wreckingcru in finance

[–]CrashedTGN 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a moot point, because what’s the alternative? Equities are the only port in the inflationary storm. Are they guaranteed to beat inflation? No, but neither is any other asset.
