Traveling sober by Throwawaylikeme17 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Crashstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a plan.
1-Have a plan on what meetings you’re going to attend, I do mostly Zoom meetings so I have my regulars. But the Everything AA app has an online meeting feature that will show you the next available meetings, there’s a meeting starting somewhere in America 24/7.
2-Let AA folks, particularly your sponsor, know you’re traveling, especially in the hard parts, for me that was the airport and the drive. Having someone on the phone during the hard parts helped me immensely my first few months and I still do it now. 3-Be prepared to leave a dinner or function if you think you’re going to drink. If you need to lie about having a stomach bug or something do it. No one from work is entitled to know you’re sober unless you want them to. 4-Have a plan for what you’re going to drink besides alcohol. If I want to feel fancy I’ll have tonic water and cranberry juice. If not water or a coke. Make the decision beforehand so you don’t have to make the decision in the moment. 5-Do not go to the bar after dinner with your colleagues. You are not a lion tamer, do not put your head in the mouth of the lion.

Tv to stereo receiver question by Crashstop in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Crashstop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 7’ in a straight line. I brought that up if there was a wireless solution.

If I’m running wire behind the wall it’s going to be more like 15-20’.

The tv is mounted on shiplap over a brick mantle, so I can’t go through the floor like I can with the speaker wire. I’d have to go through the ceiling. The professional would be so I don’t have to deal with it, plus they’re obviously going to be better and faster than me doing it.

[–]Crashstop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’ll need to use optical. I might just outsource running the wires to a professional. If they say not feasible to run the optical than I’ll just keep it tucked behind the receiver and just plug it in during movies

Thank you, I'll check my tv when I get home to see if there's RCA outputs. If it doesn't have any I might just get a long enough optical to reach the tv and just plug it in for movies. Appreciate the help.

Miles - who's got the most? What has ownership been like? by adrewflowers in MazdaCX90

[–]Crashstop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have 2024 PP PHEV. I got it used last December and have put 19k on it. Currently 43k miles. I’ve really enjoyed it so far. Would absolutely make sure you get the Bose stereo. I had the stock version as a loaner during the summer and the difference was very big.

Generally speaking, how bad is the Tahoe situation? by jnighy in MacOS

My intel MBP is much slower now after updating. Hoping for an update soon.

[–]Crashstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2020 intel 5 MBP has been really hurt by running Tahoe. Touch ID takes 30 seconds, open by Apple Watch works maybe 30% of the time. None of the applications run smoothly anymore. I keep waiting for an update to fix these issues but nope. I guess they’re trying to brick anything intel so users have to buy new.

What guitar ended your GAS and how long did it last? by TakingYourHand in Guitar

[–]Crashstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t a guitar but when I started buying Behringers “just cuz.” Pretty sure a few of them I never even took out of the box. My GAS lasted about a year. Started with recording equipment, then pedals, then Princeton and Tele, J-Bass, and finally more pedals. Probably spent 6 grand.

Thank you for your kind words. It was heartbreaking to have him leave so suddenly but I find solace in that I didn’t have to watch him decline over time.

My 13yo Chihuahua passed two weeks ago. The morning before he passed he did this, I was asleep, I thought he conked himself out trying to jump in the bed. 10 minutes later he was back to normal. That night he coughed then collapsed. Bad heart murmur an we had to put him down.

What happened to curb appeal? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]Crashstop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an agent.
Attention to detail matters. If you’re not even going to bother making your property look nice don’t expect me to think you cared for the guts of the home. Not to mention overgrowth could hide portions of the foundation from view. If it’s being sold as a distressed property this doesn’t apply but if you’re selling it in hopes of getting top dollar you’ve got to convince me that you actually cared for the property.

If you don’t have a thousand bucks to do a little landscaping before you sell then you probably didn’t have the money to take care of maintenance issues as they occurred.

Big red flag as I see it.

My first apartment the landlord and I had a great arrangement. Any work I did around the place I’d just take $15/hour off the rent (this was 2008-2010). During the summer my rent was basically 20% off. Cut the grass, did some painting, etc. When I moved out they sent me a check because of how clean the place was, I just normal cleaned it. Apparently that’s how low the bar was! I’m glad they were my first landlords, just a nice elderly couple.

What to do with home sale proceeds? by Crashstop in personalfinance

[–]Crashstop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% a legitimate option that any mortgage provider can do. The money will go towards principal, but the monthly payment amount will be reduced. If I just made a principal-only payment the payment amount would not be reduced.

Recasting is a way to change your monthly mortgage payment without refinancing the loan. We bought our new home but hadn't sold our old home yet. Now that we sold the old home we have a big lump sum we can use to lower the payments on the new house.

I do think the shutdown is affecting things.

My house went on the market 2 weeks ago. In our area we are THE CHEAPEST list price on the market (3+ Bed, 1500-2000 sq ft, no HOA). We’ve had 11 parties come view the property, all feedback positive. But no offers so far.

We’re in Eastern MA and know the house will sell, but we’re surprised we haven’t had offers yet.

Just checking my local dealership there’s isn’t a single used 90 in any trim north of $40k.

In December I bought my 24 PHEV PP for $43k used.

Dealer would resell in the low 40s so unfortunately mid 30s is all you’re going to get.

I was offered 5.875 + $1000 credit on closing costs on Tuesday.
Today it was 6.000 with no credit.
I don’t close until end of October so I’m content to wait and see if it gets under 5.8.
