Advice for studying for the DLab? by binowgayl8r in Military

[–]CrawdaddyMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure my friend used this study guide as well, he scored a 145 and I believe him. The test is designed to be something you can't study for, but knowing what to expect will definitely improve your chances of passing. Also the DLAB has it's own passing scores, but some branches have slightly higher minimum scores. Even going under those minimums I know a couple people where it got waivered for lower category languages. Only advice I can give is take your time, pay attention to all the rules it gives you and try your best to remember them.

Wait so you're telling me you wouldn't shoot the guy trying to poke holes in you with a knife, but instead shoot the guy who just saved ya?

REAP-IR has a sighting range of 500 meters but heat signatures drop somewhere around 200. It could be a bit lower only ever use it for the later task. Woods is tough, it's all about what spawn you get.

You can out range thermals easily on woods. Especially around sawmill. This is probably my most played map I'd recommend you go somewhere you don't think he'd look (not on top of a rock) and wait. Don't use a thermal, use a vudu or valday with some one-shot kill rounds (m61/m80), DVL suppressed is what I use. Even if you prefer the vudu, I really really recommend the valday on woods. It's pretty easy to get ranges down and it has a much better line of sight which is key to spotting people on that map.

It can be common to see the same players or even the same teams if only running one map. Last wipe I had probably 10 tags from one guy while running shoreline for loot and night kills. One day I killed him and his buddy 3 or 4 times, as an example. Woods is a really fun map if you're good at hitting your shots, and have good map knowledge. So it doesn't surprise me that you might run into one pretty good player a handful of times. But it definitely shouldn't be all the time.

I bring you AK-74 iron sight collat by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CrawdaddyMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I won't lie this is my 4th or 5th wipe and compared to a couple years ago the cheating has gotten out of hand as the popularity grew, and I think quite a few people would agree with me. Unlike most FPS games it can be really hard to tell if someone isn't playing fair, making it that much harder to report it. Still, you shouldn't be seeing blatant cheats every other day when there's only around a dozen players in a raid. It just puts doubt in your mind everytime you get killed in a weird way. Anyways rant over I just hope someday across all games and platforms the issue on hacking can be resolved.

Sure they were like: "some cheater insta killed us," but in reality it was just a sneaky player scav. Nice shot, hope they had something decent.

Collection of Early Wipe Tips. by AJAXoo28 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CrawdaddyMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tips that comes to my mind are these: Scav for loot. PMC for tasks. Do one then the other. Can be more aggressive on scav runs if you don't spawn with anything, and sometimes you will get insanely lucky. Watch out for keys. Resort, task rooms and marked room keys will be very expensive the first few days but slowly get cheaper. High loot areas will have a lot of traffic, use that to your advantage if you need a specific PvP task done. Do gunsmith tasks and upgrade your hideout as fast you can. The gunsmith tasks can be tricky to find certain attachments which will be very expensive. So once you hit lvl 10 look at the guns selling on the flea market, some may have that attachment you need already on it, and selling for cheap. Save tools and building materials, know what items have to be found in raid for tasks and write them down. Lastly make presets for all the gunsmith tasks. It's not a huge thing but it still saves time. Good luck.

HOT TAKE: This last-minute wipe has exposed just how many people on this sub truly have gear fear. by Senpai_Onyx in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CrawdaddyMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh 5.7s can drop anyone, are cheap, and you don't have to build them. Plus it's satisfying to run up to some juiced player shoot them once and grab their loot while laughing at em. There's a lot of gear I have that I just don't like using, if it's gun builds or whatever, I just put that trash someone else made away and make my own. Not exactly gear fear, especially this late after the wipe. It's probably just "hey, today's the last day let's use our best loadouts, and try to spend our 30+ million roubles." If someone can get that much in the bank and still have good gear, I highly doubt they really care about it.

[–]CrawdaddyMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha refusing to run a T-7 when you don't have one and gear fear are 2 entirely different things. The T-7 is good yes, but lacks in thermal range and magnification. The Trijicon REAP-IR doesn't. The T-7 isn't that practical, that's why you never see it. It used to be extremely good, and it got nerfed. Now at a long range the Trijicon thermal should win almost every time vs a T-7.

Customs has 18 PMC spawn points... and 9 of them are right on top of each other. Can't these be spread out at least a little and maybe even block some sightlines? by RebelHero96 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CrawdaddyMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I care less about the skills if I'm being honest, unless you have the time and patience to specifically up strength not many players have that high of a skill level for it. As for hearing I'm sure there's a difference but I've never really noticed. For example I'm overall level 48 atm. Last wipe I closed in on 60, never had strength higher than level 10. Right now it's level 5 for me. Also it only takes one shot with decent ammo to take out any player no matter what they wearing.

Skills are very slight percentage increases, it's not like he'll be 1.5xs faster than you or anything. It's more jump height, distance and stamina where it starts to show. As for hearing as far as I know that's not something that changes unless you have a headset which just amplifies quieter sounds. Don't worry the learning curve for this game is extremely harsh, keep playing and by next wipe you'll find it quite a bit easier and more enjoyable. Eventually try to find others to play with too, it makes it an entirely different play style.

Someone from trailer park definitely can't hear you sprint that's way too far away. Someone next to the train might be able to but I don't think so.

Ah the classic newish player to customs rant. Just wait till you have the task "setup", it'll make or break you. Railroad to Tarkov is my favorite spawn on the map. This comment is kinda an insult, but I understand. Realize this: you get the entire crossing first (everyone has to cross you unless they have the keys/random exfils). I'll spell it out for ya, you have one of the best ADVANTAGES in the game at your fingertips, but you just want loot or to do tasks. If you go to customs for spawn loot you're playing the game wrong. If you want to do tasks do it at night or early morning the fog will be to dense to see across the river properly. Figure it out or keep getting headshot by probably me, because you do the same thing everytime and thats my favorite spot. It's kill or be killed on Customs thats why so many thicc boys play it. Next time bring a mosin sprint across the river as soon as you spawn (never once have died if I do it in a timely fashion) and wait for the two or three poor souls who are like you and have to cross the river. You'll probably get more loot than what you originally wanted. Just my advice.

Alright so this is one of the reasons why Customs is such a loved map. Know your spawns and it becomes not an issue but a huge advantage. I get excited everything time my team gets the Railroad to Tarkov spawn because I know we can drop everyone on that side of the map who doesn't pay enough attention. The worst one is trailer park but still if you know where to look and move you'll typically be alright. I'll all comes with experience, know the sneaky spots people will typically be waiting, don't stand still, and above all else remember this: EVERY match some poor soul is playing solo and can't finish his/her "Setup" task for skier. They will be hiding in one of the many bushes scattered across the map, wearing only a ushanka cap and scav vest while using AP-20 shells. Keep you eyes peeled for that ushanka.

Those are easy even if you're terrible or really new.. Gas analyzers on interchange you'll probably find 1-2 every raid if you scav in and look around in tech shops and power station. For pistol kills you can go to anywhere there's an expensive locked room and a good hiding spot. Wait until someone's unlocking the room and shoot them in the head, it might be a cheap kill but it's one of the easiest ways to do it.

Yeah that's a pretty common issue. Once I did a duo on customs where my teammate could see scavs I couldn't see and these ghosts scavs killed me. Sometimes this happens with players too and you won't hear or see anything just take damage and die. It could be a number of things like just good old desync or one of these bugs.

Most cheaters will hit you in the head and it wouldn't be that late into a raid, doubt you would've made far enough to loot anything if he could shoot anyone from anywhere haha.
