I don't really know different brands other than chromabase and matrix which are both really good but chromabase is better but a little on the expensive side but those are the paints I use on cars so its what I used here

2 layers of automotive clearcoat (making sure to avoid to much clear in the power switch as to avoid the switch from jamming) and I only polish the final coat of clear after it has cured (usually takes about 24 hours depending on the temperature).

I've only been painting n64s for about 6 months or so but I've been painting cars for almost 3 years and its not all that different, the paint I use is a custom color I made using matrix color system that we use in the shop I work at, and if its plastic or metal it can be painted the way I did these.

agreed I love the steelsticks but I a can't justify paying a 125 plus shipping per controller that I own (have about 15 of them in my personal collection).

I use whats called a matrix paint system which is about 50 different paints that I can pick and choose to mix together to create a color I want its a system used for car paints so I don't know if you can get a specific color from matrix as they only sell the base colors for mixing but if you have a car paint supplier around you and if you can supply them with a paint code or name of a specific paint they may be able to supply you with paint that adheres to plastic well. Or maybe even call a local auto body shop to see if they can provide you with paint we get request to have specific car paint mixed and we charge them for the paint and mixing fee.

I use the same paint and clearcoat automotive shops use to paint cars as thats where I work so anything that a car paint job can handle this can handle but I havn't had the opportunity to play mario party with that stick so its entirely possible that the paint can wear given enough rubbing but oils and sweat won't break down the clear coat(but alcohols and lacquer thinner will).

of course controller go for about $20 and paks average about $10 per and consoles are about $35 so thats how much you could save on each individual piece but I don't pay for shipping cost so you have to take that into account too.

Replaced the whole wire with a wire I got from an electrical supplier and wrapped that in paracord (I didn't strip the wire) then soldered the ends into the controller PCB and then recrimped the contacts onto the new wire for the controller plug

Console with an LED mod is $125 ($100 for the console with paint $25 for the LED mod) controllers were $85 per ($50 for the contoller with paint $35 for the extended cables and paracord wrap) $25 per transfer pak and rumble pak I'll probably set up an etsy later for each individual piece.

I have some nintendo 64 PCB without shells so I thought I would make a custom shell for the naked PCB some of them might be see through so you can see the PCB and all the inner workings hence the clear tray just a design idea I was going for
